PSPUAE 0.63 BE Released

FOL of www.pspuae.com has posted this news for those of you with homebrew-enabled PSPs to enjoy:

We have released a new version of PSPUAE, changes / improvements are listed below.

Why the BE, simple, its exactly 1 year ago since pspuae.com started. So as to celebrate this fact, we decided to name it 0.63BE for Birthday Edition.

Also, with the recent memory increase. There will be some big states uploaded that were made for this version. 1 of the largest being 10.5 Megs.

V0.63 BE - FOL, GnoStiC, cmf update
  • - Removed alot of un-needed code, to gain usable memory (GnoStiC and cmf)
    - Optimized code to gain speed (GnoStiC)
    - Added alot of defines to gain speed (FOL and GnoStiC)
    - Added define to allow 10.5MB of memory, not limited to 6MB anymore (FOL and cmf)
    - Changed the delay and latency on sound to gain speed (FOL)
    - Changed PSPUAE cpu cycle unit to 1, gave stable speed increase (FOL)
    - Removed 0 from Auto Frame Skip, pointless as it slows emu down when hitting 0 (FOL)
    - Removed Interpol code as it was broken since 0.60, removing this gave speed increase (GnoStiC)
    - Fixed memory selection, now only valid amiga memory configs are selectable (cmf)
    - Fixed Crash, where if no Backdrop was present PSPUAE would crash PSP (FOL and cmf)
    - Fixed Interrupts setting in sound, as it was still produing sound (FOL and GnoStiC)
    - Added AutoZoom check to PSPUAE reset command, so each reset will turn off AutoZoom. This stops the crash with certain configs, when AutoZoom was on. Simply Press and hold L & R Trigger and SELECT after reset to turn it back on (FOL)
    - Removed support for E / X-Loader and Tiff exploits as it was causing crash in
Custom Firmware's. A seperate E / X-loader tiff version is released seperately (FOL)
Remember Read the README`s, if your not sure of an option, please ask in the forums.

You can download it from the www.pspuae.com downloads section

have fun chums!

Too bad PSPUAE is still too slow, all games lags, no smooth sound.... imo, the games are unplayable.... SOME games are playable, but then you have to disable the sound, which is a no no.... I want sound... so...... too bad.

out of interest, have you actually tried this version or are you basing that entirely on previous experience?

there is a big speed increase in this version, compared with the previous release at christmas; making most games playable with sound - and yes - some are full-speed with little or no frameskip - even with sound.

such negativity IC

adn yes, i was talking about eye of the beholder - or any proper-RPG... or any game (all platformers?) which are preferable on d-pad to analogue stick.

Since when did the GP2X have an analogue stick?

Mine doesn't, it has a digital joystick, just like my real amiga does.

But fanwars aside kudos to the pspuae team for their hard work, I must try this release soon.

Of course I've tried it, lol... otherwise I wouldn't have said "STILL" and "STILL SLOW"... you need to pay more attention to what you read, mister! .

hey you never know, some people just take it for granted. t'was nothing personal, its just that what you said isnt really true in that case... especially "the games are unplayable" comment

Of course the games run on it, but so slow... and stutters like hell... and the sound is stuttering making it too annoying to play.... thefore, unplayable as it is choppy, stuttery, laggy......

but sure, the game runs and you can play..... but for me, unplayable in the sense of... ehm.. playability... ... .. ... . ... .... not fun to play when it's like this... hope it will be "decent" someday.... imo, it's not now, even if you are gonna say that it is .

well i have games such as Syndicate, Bloodwych, Rainbow Islands, Sim City, Moonstone, Legend... (i could go on for a long time here) running at 50fps on pspuae, with sound. some need a bit of skip, but that is far from making them unplayable.

i play all of these and they do not suffer from un-playabilty. the sound isnt perfect i admit, but not terrible to the point of un-bareable when at 50fps.

sorry IC - i just happen to quite strongly disagree with what you've said - i guess well have to leave it at that.
