EAB Appreciation Thread
I know it’s a little cheesy, but I’m in such a good and appreciative mood today that I couldn’t help myself.
After looking through the various “abime.net” sites and of course the forum itself, I just can’t believe how good EAB has become. It really has blossomed since the early days back in 2001. Without doubt, this is the best Amiga community on the internet - content, hosting, attitude and presentation are all top grade. I might even be able to go as far to say this is the best online community in terms of generosity full stop. People go out of their way to help others; share and host content and offer advice without asking for anything in return. It really keeps the spirit of the Amiga alive in a manner that’s enjoyable. Some other major Amiga sites don’t enjoy such pleasures. Some ask for donations, have quite elitist views on age-old copyrights, agonise over the future of the Amiga and miss out on what the Amiga should be about in the 21st century. In my opinion, EAB gets the balance spot on. All credit to RCK for creating and maintaining such a fantastic place for us to gather. He asks for no favours; no donations; offers bandwidth and space freely and is just one great guy! And then we have the all important members running the forums and individual projects, all for the good of the community: WHDload packs, wiki pages, WinUAE/emulation, HOL, Magazine rack, SPS…..the list goes on (sorry if you didn’t get a mention)!!! Don’t get me wrong, there are other great websites out there and respect to those of you running them. I just wanted to get across that EAB and it’s surrounding community is up amongst the best and lets hope it survives for many years to come. Thanks to you all. moderators aside this is a good place on internet.
it has a mostly nice community, it is clean and well shepered, it has a great admin. imagine: a community for a hopelessly uncommerce-able area of interest, for thousands of silly people who unsensibly keep pouring interest and time in it, with the risks that keeping it active imply for the administrator, given the copyright issues on old software in this case that have lots of people debating, and lo! it's still running and free after 6 years! i will never stop praising RCK just for that only. that aside, yes this thread is cheesy, i hope it gets closed soon and Bloodwych banned |

I'll second everything said so far. This is without a doubt not only the best Amiga site around, but one of the best sites of any kind. I've joined a few forums over the years, but in the end I usually don't bother with them after a while because most of them are full of dickheads or the conversation is dull and uninspiring, yet here at EAB, there are some great discussions, usefull info, competitions, projects, and you can get a laugh out of some of the threads most days. Also, people are always willing to help each other out.
So thanks to RCK, the moderators and also the members for making this site what it is. Cheese is good, especially if it is blue and you have a nice bottle of port to go along with it. |

Talking about laughs, and I know it wasn't always everyone's cup of tea, but I miss the off-topic banter from Fred, Dizzy, Ironclaw and the rest of the loony gang.
In my opinion they posted some funny crap that lightened up the board. I know some don't miss it and found it all a bit much, but it catered for the needs of my sick mind. |

I like this site more than other Amiga sites because others seem to have some kind of snobbery as it were, theres more to Amiga than a A1200!
This site caters for all Amigas regardless of age, and all users regardless of how new or old. Thanks for the site |

actually, truth be told, RCK, Cody, TG, Fred, Ian, Akira, Burseg, Jmmijo, Bloodwych, Belgarath and others are my reason too, at least in the early years. they were really amicable and there were lots of fun and info. i know i have not felt so at home in other forums.

Since I am running one site myself, I give full credit to RCK for doing what he does. EAB has been an excellent site for as long as I remember. Most important thing is that it is one of the friendliest places on the net.
