You know.. I'd consider myself pretty good at this game.
Usually clear the bonus rounds, can reach black belt etc..
Turbo mode turns each session into a button-bashing frenzy entirely based on luck.
Not to mention if you can last longer than 2 mins your already in luck.
Who's crazy idea was this???

Lol.. anyway, here's my first score
16,500

I'm playing it on normal right now just to try and get the hang of the controls. Is there a way to chose between doing punchs and kicks? I only seem to be able to sweep, kick, mini-jump (wtf?) and jump. My best on normal speed is 6K, my best on turbo is currently 0.

All depends on directions (8 of them) and whether you press the fire button or not.

Check the manual (quite concise):
http://hol.abime.net/2611/manual

I am not sure but I think the GBA version had an animated screen explaining the controls (but the manual should be enough).

"Mini-jump" is useful for avoiding sweeping kicks.

Fully agreed - most people who voted for IK+ certainly didn't want to play turbo mode. There's no gameplay with turbo.
Speed settings F6, F7 and F8 (normal) should be allowed and only the two slowed down settings should be forbidden.

I've never played this before in my life, so I can't comment on the rules, but I would like to think that if a large majority of players request a rule change within the first couple of days then we could get that rule change pushed through, even if it means a few scores have to be purged. I doubt too many people care about the scores they post on the first day anyway.

I'd vote for normal gameplay - no altering of speed and 1player only.

At normal speed I too can get the black belt etc etc no problem, but of course at Turbo speeds I can only get brown. It would handycap the top players for a pro level round...?

I'm happy to go either way on this.

I think normal speed is challenging enough for those that have never played it.. it's a great game with a good scoring system - turbo mode spoils the fun!

Yes it was my idea, I was trying to sabotage my own chances by having the top players fight it out on the hardest setting, so there wouldnt be 15 guys all with black belts and a similar score. I find Turbo is not luck, it just requires more skill.

"for those that have never played it" - who's never played IK+??

Graham, what do you say about this?

And I can tell that on my BPPC/060 setup this game is somewhat slower (=easier) on turbo mode than on an ACA 1230/56 on which it just flies. This is one point where I don't see justification for turbo mode.

It's all my fault, so you can relax now. I'm not familiar with the game and it was played in a bonus round on lemon 2 years ago in Turbo with no complaints, so I went with that as a snap decision. But there have been enough unhappy people already that the rules are being changed. Play in normal mode and if anyone wants to go faster feel free. All scores so far still stand.
