The Turtle Board should be capable of running part of the code for Minimig (Amiga chipset) with a 68k FPGA CPU core (it should be capable of 68020 features and performance at least). There would probably be extensive work needed but it would be a good candidate for a much upgraded Minimig (MiniMig and Replay use Xilinx FPGAs too). The Turtle Board has already been delayed but there are working prototypes and the guys behind it are reputable. |

Someone explain to me what is happening with this registration stuff ??? The Facebook Amiga group is discussing it..., So the Apollo team kick out Kipper2k from the group over a disagreement, (Vampire would not be what it is today without kipper), and now want people with boards to send them back so they can implement a registration system ? Uhhhh no thanks ! |

Kipper was not kicked from the team. He decided to leave because he was burnt out from all the stress and exhaustion which accumulated over the years. Him having become a grandad recently surely also has played a role. Whoever spreads this nonsense on facebook has no clue or is trying to harm the project.

Well, let's try basic logic. Which one makes sense and which one does not:
A) Apollo Team wants to implement a registration scheme and some guy on Facebook shows blank PCBs, claims to have core files to share and proclaims "let the cloning commence!" in defense of the free Vampire world. B) a so-called team member kicked for trading defunct Vampire hardware as working steals data from the team and the team decides to implement a registration scheme in response to make clones impossible. The guy then goes ballistic on Facebook. |

I'm just glad I never bought into this (what is to me) a POS.
Some folk may be happy with it and good for them, but I wouldn't go near it unless a 68k compatible FPU and MMU was implemented, I know I'm not the only one either. This registration crap is total bull too, they can stick it. I hope someone does replicate it and implements the missing features, I would be interested then. I see problems in the future though, now it has gained traction law suits are on the possible horizon. They could be safe on the 68k side but by implementing AMMX they're stomping in to Intel territory and that is very dangerous ground. Only recently Intel fired a warning off at Microsoft over it's ISA on Microsoft ARM features. It could be time to stock up on popcorn. |

Indeed, the never-ending soap opera surrounding Amiga has more entertainment value than any hardware product.
I don't see the point with the registering scheme, as it will only reduce the number of users that will update their boards, and fragment the user base even more. But hey... whatever |

Friday last week on the Retro Hour, they talked about Vampire V4, the Apollo project, and how it now has its own operating system called ApolloOS. So they, who have kinda been aboard and reporting on this project for years, made the absurd assumption that ApolloOS is somehow related to the Apollo project. Well, I laughed

It's not surprising really. The only way I'd consider a purchase would be if it was open. There's too much risk otherwise. From the jaws of victory and all that..

Alright! Now that the naysayers have had their say, let's see what the yaysayers do with a higher capacity FPGA.
