Datatype tutorial wanted

So I'd like to get my feet wet by doing some simple datatype for WB 3.0. Does anyone know proper documentation or tutorial regarding how to make a proper datatype?

Thanks!

Maybe this example datatype from Andreas Kleinert can help you for a start?

This surely looks good.

Any general guidelines and documentation are still appreciated although this one will get me started for sure.
