I don't like ogg (like others I've read here). It has been around for a long time now, and still it isn't that popular or widespread (for a reason). Any player can play mp3, but not all can play ogg, you will need a plugin for those that can't play... meh can't be arsed to download plugins for stuff... just keep it mp3 instead.......... but like I read, seems like mp3 is not free or whatever the chit chat was about.. meh.... who cares, I've never payed for anything like this....

What reason do you think ?

Any Amiga can play mp3 if you have "additional hardware". An 030 can play mp3 at quarter quality in mono or something. only an 060 can play mp3 at full quality (if you have a soundcard).

I didn't actually have the Amiga in mind when I made this feature. It started as a way for me to listen to the tunes away from home type thing.

all "decent" media player software for windows/linux/osx supports ogg.

[edit]
Oh and even if you did need a plugin, it is "one" plugin. as opposed to the multitude of players/plugins you would need to play all the tunes you can now listen to as ogg.

If there was ever a reason to keep it OGG only, this is it.

I speculate you have and you just didnt know it.

Or you don't have any MP3 capable device (MP3 player, phone, pda, dvd player etc). Cos all of them include the license in the price.

I didn't mean the amiga capabilities here, I was talking about the PC.... every player I have, as default doesn't support ogg, it needs a plugin to play ogg..... mp3 ftw.

No need to.

True, I don't have a dvdplayer, mp3 player or the like ... got my laptop though... it can read dvd discs, doesn't make it's a mp3 player fooooooooool.. but guess you meant a stand-alone dvdplayer

Heeeeeell no... no ancient versions at all... and can't be arsed to list them.... and I use like one player for music, one for video... unlike others who probably use several for video and several for music...... I know players like deliplayer and xmplay prolly support ogg by default, but I don't use those....

so, give it a rest... you suck, don't know shit .. I do.. and whatever you say is wrong.. I'm right.. and if you say I'm wrong, you are just in denial like everyone else...

Since you can't even name your player when you sit right in front of your laptop, I guess there is something else wrong on your side

Sure IC, that's why your player doesn't support OGG. Anyway, if you're happy that's okay.

Then you paid at least once for an MP3 license. 99.99% of all laptops are sold with M$ Windows pre-installed, the cost of which is included in the price of your laptop. M$ licenses MP3 for windows.

I don't really believe you. It is practically impossible to by a laptop OS free.

All high street shops in the UK just wont sell you a laptop without OS.

As for being cheaper; Dell, HP, Acer etc. (any of the big laptop manufacturers you can buy direct from) make you go through hell to buy one OS free and then they charge the same or more.

I guess it is different in different countries?

Mine is from Dell, top notch, expensive.. 4g memory (cool for a laptop)

And yeah, no OS on this one was an option I selected......

Dell NO os eh?? You must have bought it a while ago.

In the UK this is not an option dell offers through the front door to home customers. You can arrange over the phone for the OS to be removed at an additional £40 on top of the cost of a laptop with windows.

In fact it is the most complained about thing on their community website.

I just downloaded a few old game tunes such as the one from Strangeloop

Is it any wonder i was so captivated by the C64 when it had such ominous, ambient, gritty and downright brilliant musical scores on one of the most incredible sound chips ever created, the classic SID !!!!

A bit off topic - Don't you hate it when you paint a room then put the pictures back up on the wall only have one fall off and come crashing down smashing the glass the picture is encased in whilst on the way down scratching a wall you just painted!

SHIT!

For all those who have poor mediaplayers I have added mp3 encoding to modland
This was actually broken. It is working now. I also added mp3 downloads to the other music searches.
