Bomb Jack DX C64 (New Arcade Port)

First video looks awesome. Bomb Jack deserved a better C64 port. Now it happens.

No, it's an alpha version anyway. A short tech demo.

Great video, I love Bomb Jack. I think that Amiga deserve for better port too.

I agree 100% with that and it is on my list of things I'd like to do, although because I love the spectrum port it would likely be heavily influenced by it gameplay wise.

Looks pretty good.
I had the original c64 version in a compilation, "back in the day" and quite enjoyed it, even if it did get mediocre reviews.

Actually started a remake for Amiga for a competition a few years back. On the back of this thread I decided to see exactly what I'd done. Not much actual game in there, but Bombjack himself is fully controllable.
Might get back into it one day, but Im enjoying working on my original game (jrpg style) for the moment.

Why are they using a Jarre cover for music? Kinda sucks. They should do the original arcade music.

because that's the music of the original C64 version, which we know and liked back then. Another soundtrack would just feel wrong.

No, it would feel more like the arcade, which is what this port is trying to replicate.

A new soundtrack did not hurt, rather, enhance, the new versions of Commando and Ghosts n Goblins.

awesome but magnetic fields doesn't fit well in my opinion. (decent cover though) and certainly better than the god awful music on the ST version.

I had the Spectrum version back in the day, something about its classic simplicity that made it one of the most addictive games going. I played both sequels (Bomb Jack II and Mighty Bombjack) and neither came close. Also seems like conversions to more powerful machines weren't up to the job.

I really hope the arcade music is covered instead of this shitty Jarre cover that still remains.

I think this is gonna be the final music, Retrofan always said the previous music was just a filler

If the C64 arcade port uses different music than the coin-op version, then it's not an arcade port.
