i have all my .c files backed up
You can keep your source files on your Windows drive, outside the HDF. The HDF is rather small anyway.

In your WinUAE config go to the harddrives page and enable "add PC drives at startup" (if it is not enabled yet) and save the config. Next time you run WinUAE you can see your Windows drive as WinHD_C and can save your source files for example in WinHD_C:Users/Morbane/Documents/Projects.
