Have you tried using the cpu fastrom command instead to map the rom to fast memory?

Edit: Scrub that...not really a workaround is it.

You can use a self-made ROM with remapollo. No need to burn ROMs.

Hi Roy,

Have a look at this thread:
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=59022
with particular reference to mfilos' Amibay guide in the opening post.

You can use Remus for ROM building.

ok i thought i would revive this thread,as ive finally got around to doing something about the problem.

i wanted to use remapollo with a mediator in mmu mode, sounds easy right nope, there are problems.

the mediator needs to use the mmu while remapollo is remapping the kickstart to fastram.let alone making a custom kickstart to use in remapollo with workbench 3.9 past boing bag 2.
if this is old news, then i apolagise in advance.

this is how i got around it.

the first problem is making remapollo work with the mediator in mmu mode

the solution is a fast hardrive and changing the comand C:CPU60 B (best)to C:CPU60 F for (fastrom)obviosly i dident read the manual

then drop remapollo and drap into the c: drawer, and add C:DRAP followed by C:REMAPOLLO QUIET.at this point you should have kick 3.1 remapped to fastram and be able to use a mediator in mmu mode.

NOTE:- kick 3.9 will not work if you have oxypatcher in your startup-sequence.
NOTE2:-im using remapollo 1.7
NOTE3:-for some reason it only works with PIO-4 drives PIO-3 are to slow

now for the custom kickstart.in the remapollo package there is a program called rux, drop rux and the bb2 rom update into ram, then run rux.you should end up with few files in ram named something like OS_Module1 etc.
i copyed the following files from ram to a drawer i made in libs: called OS3.9
OS_Module1 (ROMUpdate 44.57 (25.2.2002))
OS_Module2 (exec 45.20 (6.1.2002)) this is part of the update that stops remapollo from working even WITHOUT a mediator
OS_Module3 (bootmenu 44.7 (25.2.2002))
OS_Module4 (fs 45.13 (3.8.2001))
OS_Module5 (filesysres 45.10(3.4.2001))
OS_Module6 (IDE_scsidisk 43.43(16.1.2002))
OS_Module7 (ram 44.8(12.6.2001))
OS_Module8 (console 44.8(12.6.2001))
OS_Module9 (shell 45.7(13.01.2002))

NOTE3:-you can find out what is in the modules by looking in the icon info.(in the comments)

right this is how my startup looks after fastata driver and before setpatch.

C:CPU60 F

C:DRAP
If WARN
C:REMAPOLLO QUIET MODULES LIBS:OS3.9/OS_Module1 OS_Module2 OS_Module3 OS_Module4 OS_Module5 OS_Module7 OS_Module8 OS_Module9(all this has to be on one line to work)
ENDIf

NOTE:- i dident want the scsi update so i left that out and left icon.library workbench.library where it was in LIBS:,you can add this if you want
NOTE2:-because of the oxypatcher problem i replaced this with HSMathlibs(v46 registered) and added it at the end after OS_Module9 on the same line.

now my mission is complete.i have kick3.9(45.65535) and workbench3.9(45.5) and all the boing bags(1,2,3,4) running on a apollo 1260 with a mediator in mmu mode.
phew i think im going to go mess with my a3000T now.

Hiya Roy,

I need to study this thread as I'm having issues with Remapollo with BB2 updates.

I've basically got the same kind of startup as you:

Code:
C:REMAPOLLO QUIET MODULES LIBS:OS3.9/OS_Module1 OS_Module2 OS_Module3 OS_Module4 OS_Module5 OS_Module7 OS_Module8 OS_Module9(all this has to be on one line to work)
I've also got a few extra modules added to the end of this line (eg BBlank, NoClick etc).

If I just add a couple of the BB2 modules all is fine but when I try and add any more (doesn't matter which one) my PCMCIA CF card no longer mounts

The strange thing is that it does seem to kick all of the BB2 modules I give it into FASTRAM successfully, it just loses the CF card?

Maybe I should try using Remus to create a custom kickrom instead?

Also one of those BB2 'modules' is something call 'BB2RomUpdate'....anyone know what it does and if you even need it?

when you have stripped out the files from the bb2romupdate you add the files to remapollo as modules, the important part to remember is to have the modules ALL on one line in the startup.(i think ive said earlier on its not as easy as it looks)

when you say it no longer mounts,do you get the early boot screen with the floppy going in the drive.(after its read these modules)

yep its a good idea to read the thread all the way through.

nope, you dont really need to have kick 3.9,i just wanted to see if it worked.

It still boots to WB fine and everything else seems to work ok, it's only the Compact Flash card (used via the PCMCIA slot) that no longer works???

It sounds strange because it is strange

Maybe you reached the max. commandline length? If yes, just rename OS module names to shorter one. Or it is a timing issue (where/when is the CF mounted?). I don`t think so but maybe an address problem (modules get in conflict with PCMCIA address space?). You may check where the resident stuff is placed in ram.

@roy bates:
Did you tried/used successfully a 1MB ROM with Remapollo V1.8? Unfortunately there is just some (uncompleted?) information of how to do.

@novacoder

nope never had that problem,cf card in pcmicia works fine.

@daxb

i never got round to it and i have got v1.8 of remapollo just for this purpose,i was bit hesitant at the time anyway because there was no docs of how to correctly do it.
do i load it as 1mb module? or do i load it as an 512kb module and an extension module?

when ive got time i will find out,but for the time being this works ok
