Retro, you left off +PC Monitor

...don't let them confuse you over the original point and what the title should be renamed to

Of course you don't need scanlines activated in WinUAE when using a PC via a TV or an arcade monitor

The point is:

WinUAE with double pixel doesn't look like the real thing on a PC monitor, no matter in which resolution. Everyone who says yes is:

a) blind
b) narrowminded
c) or never used a real amiga.

Retro,

I think you mean to say "WinUAE with double pixel on a PC monitor doesn't look like the real thing, no matter in which resolution..."

That's true, that's why my opinion stayed always RGB triads. I think MAME implements it in as a simply fashion as an alphamapped PNG pattern over the display, it works very well, and really simulates a TV, old monitor.

This may not be the main essence of this thread, but yes, so we finally agree on something!
But it does count scanlines in now, doesn't it

Screenshots of MAME with bilinear filtering and triad6. If you want to recreate the original look of a tv, THAT'S the way to go, not scanlines:

Sorry for the links, but the screenshots are rather large .

You are kidding, Konrad. The fonts are deformed and the whole image is blurred. This is for sure NOT the real look of a amiga.

Buy a real amiga and a decent TV with a RGB cable.

I think you scanline lovers are better of NOT using scanlines in WinUAE as it doesn't look anything like the effect in the above pictures....

@Retro:
Those are screenshots with bilinear filtering, thus the blurring. Which can be deactivated. It's just an example for a effect (which should IMO be included in WinUAE). This looks MUCH better than scanlines and is a lot closer to the original look. Connect your Amiga to a 20 year old TV and tell me again, that this is not the real look . You can't get closer.
