Created a small Distro with the "Nightly Build" for AROS 68k 060, nothing special, a simple distro without external applications, seems to be faster

Yes you're right, unfortunately when I use WinUAE the video capture program does this by slowing down the video, delaying and fragmenting the audio.

With other emulators or virtualizers it doesn't happen

I wanted to ask if using AROS as a productivity system would be closer to a low end PC? Such as surfing the net, web based email, video + audio streaming, web office and etc? I was looking at Linux for a future build for the kids but maybe AROS is usable enough?

AROS One 68k is not compatible with Windows PC, AROS One 68k requires a genuine Amiga or AMIGA WinUAE or FS-UAE Emulator.

On Windows you have to use AROS One x8e, this one:

I would not recommend it as a productivity system in todays terms... I personal like it and I can live with the shortcomings but recommending it as main platform is something different. One example is web browsing... even Odyssey on X86 (who is the most up to date and fastest browser on any amiga platform) is years old. If you want to test it you can download Icaros desktop (http://vmwaros.blogspot.com/) and install it in a virtual machine to test it.

Oh you can of course test AROS One X86 too...

Thank you Amigasystem!
If you need help to test the distros, all you have to do is ask.

Testing Hollywood Player 8 running some sample applications on AfA One Vs AROS One 68k, I found practically no major difference, the 2 OS with the same configuration are also equal in power, I enclose the tests done on both OSs.

Hi @AMIGASYSTEM,

nice to read about the version for real Amigas without Kickstart remapping is in the works.

Can't wait to try it out on my A4000T.

Thanks for all the work you put into this!

Best,
Torsten

Just made it run on Amibian 1.5 (Raspberrypi 4B)
Had to try with different settings to get it to work.

I could not make it work with the inbuilt Aros 1024k kickstart replacement.
It will complain about missing library (stdc.library or something).
Using those rom and ext files from the first post worked better.
For some reason Aros complains about disk being write protected. After setting the disk to use the internal IDE controller instead of the uae default it did work.

It is a bit buggy and a bit slow on this setup. It crashed a few times on trying to change the screenmode, but finally I managed to set&save a 1280x720x32 setting.
I could not get any sound when trying to play any of the samples in the sound folder. Trying to play the mp3 really slowed things down, making be think the system was frozen at one point. I tried to change the AHI settings, but whatever I choose I was not able to play the test sound.
Some of the included games tend to hang the system, at least AirStrike and Blaster. Cyclone did work, but without sound. I only tested these 3.
Playing the WhdLoad games worked well and with sound.

Is this distribution free to use and to include in other distributions, like Amibian?
