Kick Off 2 has not a "crap control system". I know this is not easy to play. No glue at your feet to trap the ball makes it difficoult and brilliant in the same time. Running with the ball must be no easy like in real soccer. However with practice you would find out that it has a very good control allowing medium level players to perform nearly everything. You can start/stop running with ball (No in Sensible Soccer), you can perform dribbling, perfect passing (back passing too) to every team mate, head the ball... I spent night hours on playing it against friends. Goal, the real Kick Off 2 sequel, introduced acceleration and deceleration to players and little more for control. In my opinion GOAL IS TODAY THE STATE OF THE ART as concernig soccer games. Kick Off fans learn how to play it in minutes, but they can spend the eternity to master it. FANTASTIC.

Today you can find (check the web) periodicals international Kick Off 2 tournment.

Yolanda is what I thik a frustrating and crap game.

I disagree. Sensible Soccer does the 'no glue' thing and it's a much better control system than Kick Off 2. It's not the sticking to your feet thing, it's just that Kick Off 2 control system is easy to hate.

...and easy to like, I know.

I liked Sensible Soccer, but I have to admit I did not spend much time on it.
I think it is a very good arcade game, Kick Off (and Goal more) are nearly simulation.

Answer me about Sensible Soccer. I remember this but I could be wrong:

- Are you able to reach the ball and stop player upon and defend it? (Kick Off Yes)
- Are you able to miss the ball? (Kick Off Yes, Sensible auto-drives the nearest player to ball)
- Are you able to pass the ball in every direction "behind" included? (Kick Off Yes).
- Are you able to run with the ball and decide (with it) to decelerate, accelerate, stop, dribbling during deceleration, dribbling during acceleration, dribbling on re-start? (Goal Yes).

I agree Kick Off system control isn't easy and take much more time, but with it you can perform much more actions than Sensi. Obviously it's more difficoult, but this is not bad: You love it when you know it.
Sensible Soccer has nicer gfx, nicer sound and everyone can play it. Kick Off/Goal NO.

Yes, to some extent.

No it doesn't, it only passes if you hold the button for a moment. So the answer to the question is yes.

No, but it's still a great game for it.

I never said it wasn't better, or less technical, I just said the control system is easy to hate. By your reasoning that means Microprose Soccer is one of the best football games ever since you can answer YES to all of your questions.

BTW, Goal is not Kick Off 2. In my opinion it's a much better game.

I so hope this thread doesn't turn into a KO2/Goal vs Sensi debate

cool and frustrating games:

Rockford
Chuckie Egg II
Cybernoyd (2?)
Rise of the Dragon

Abandoned Places was not so much frustrating because it was such a bad game that after spending some evening trying to figure it, i drop it. but it has been 100% frustration for those evenings.

The second Cybernoid was incredibly difficult. The first one was challenging but at least you had a chance of getting somewhere in it.

I must admit I don't find it particularly frustrating... it gets quite difficult later on but it doesn't really frustrate me.

Aztec Challenge I remember trying to finish that game on my C64 with my sister. I saw it in my dreams trying to dodge the spears and escape from piranhas. I found an Amiga remake and couldn't pass the first level! I deleted it from my hard drive. OOOOOH THE NIGHTMARES!!!

Aztec Challenge was great.

I knew some company attempted a port to Amiga but didn't release it, so where did you find it?

I think there is a public domain port for PC now.

The only Aztec Challenge I know for the Amiga is the conversion by Bignonia: http://hol.abime.net/4856

I can upload these to The Zone! if you like?

... Aztec Challenge (1993-05)(Bignonia)(PD)[C64 conversion].zip
... Aztec Challenge (1993-05)(Bignonia)(PD)[KS2.0, C64 conversion].zip

Well, I ever found hell difficult any game from Team17, excepts for Alien Breed 3D (the second was damn hard to play, as he the 2D previous games).
