I'll dig out 10.1 from somewhere and give it a try - I can run up an xp virtual machine for it and give it a go.
I havent seen that one.. may work fine.. But you do need the board powered to program it.

I should be powering the board via the JP7 header I presume?

This is something for Steve, but my understanding is Jtag carries its own 3.3v to the chip (VCC33)

Yup. Jtag it can't provide that power because the cable has to work on different voltage specs. You need a ref voltage so you don't blow up your chips

I'm slowly, and on a budget, buying parts to build TF530. Any problems on using EC series on TF530? Found some used MC68EC030RP40C on eBay for just $8 + $5 shipping.

On another note, I've just had a couple more sets of boards turn up from a couple of different suppliers, but by far the best is from Elecrow - $29.90 delivered for 10 boards 1.6mm pcb (A bit thicker and less prone to warping), and the ENIG process which means the pads are much flatter and are a bit sharper, the silkscreen is much higher resolution too.

Just an alternative option if anyone is interested

I've mainly been testing with that part number. So it's fine

I can second that. I only use Elecrow for hobby projects lately. The 29.90 is with DHL shipping right?

I am still working out the fine details but the dumbass stuff is routed already.

040 + FPGA + SATA is the plan.

Whether it will work or not is a different matter.

Woah! SATA on a Classic Amiga ? Did I read that right ?

I have here an unexpanded Amiga 2000, and I'm wondering what the best way to go about expanding it would be. Ideally I would like some kind of flash HDD, fast memory, accelerator (plus flicker fixer which would be separate).

There seems to be a lot of activity around this whole project. Is the best bit of advice to wait for about 6 months or so - and see what happens ? Maybe I could buy something pre-made once the design / manufacturing is sorted ?

Thanks in Advance

Patrick

040 is very cool

040's can run hot so it's important to include a monster heat-sink fan combo...one heat-sink to rule them all kind of deal.

It would also be good to allow the CPU to be overclocked, is it possible to do something funky where you can do some special keyboard combo to change the clock speed on boot up? That might be fun.

I saw on your video that you didn't think +32 MB was useful but there are a few demos/games that need need 64 MB so I'd make that the minimum personally. With memory it's always nice to have too much vs not enough

People don't run a 040 or above just for gaming, unless it's one that specifies that CPU, but productivity software becomes much more usable. Such software gains with every MB of added memory, 128mb would still be barely adequate for some. Memory is cheap these days compared to 20 year ago, would be a big bonus to pile it on.

The SMD 040s do not run as hot. So no heat sink.

If you want to follow what I'm doing in detail ask questions on my channel. I do live sessions there where i answer questions from chat.

I'm trying to keep this thread for end users of existing and emerging boards

... and i now have DiagROM running at 40-42Mhz (on a 40Mhz chip). Fixes were all firmware to get past the 30Mhz barrier.

RAM tests all complete at 42Mhz but workbench isn't happy about something. Possibly i need to sort something out on the old SYNC bus.
