Rev 2 does require INT2 but not OVR. Rev 3 does not require OVR or INT2. Rev 4 will not even have the header because it gets in the way of something else I'm adding In terms of pushing this research forward I'm not planning to keep doing updates for older cards but it may be possible to to solder patch wires from AUX0 and AUX1 to IPL2 and IPL1 respectively and get the same functionality. You will not be able to get the interrupt pin for the SPI port though without cutting tracks and soldering to the RAM cpld. You are also missing alot of grounding and power improvements on the rev2. The short answer is that the older boards are what they are. If i make a leap in frequency from the firmware i'll backport but the features that required a board change like factoring out the OVR/INT2 stuff and the newer features in Rev4 will need a new board. Well, moment of truth coming up shortly..
CPLD's were interesting, but not bad once you get the technique down. Just need to program them, and start checking things over. |

Getting there, having some issues with the Xilinx ISE software at the moment - doesn't want to install on Windows 10, think I've found the solution though - run 32 bit installer apparently...
Edit, well, it installed after an age.. But now I'm having cable detection issues :/ Last edited by Mr.Flibble; 24 April 2017 at 19:49. |

You cant use the 32bit software on 64bit with the USB driver (Simply doesn't work). To install the 64 bit software (and make it work) do this after install...

Options 05-19-2013 11:53 AM For everyone trying to use Xilinx ISE 14.5 in Windows 8 x64. Rename libPortability.dll to libPortability.dll.orig, and copy libPortabilityNOSH.dll to libPortability.dll. Do this in: C:\Xilinx\14.5\ISE_DS\ISE\lib\nt64 C:\Xilinx\14.5\ISE_DS\common\lib\nt64 (copy dll from first location) This turns off SmartHeap. This will fix ISE and iMPACT crashes on file dialogs. Nachum This information was found from another thread, thank you howardp from Xilinx in this thread: http://forums.xilinx.com/xlnx/board/...essage.id=1732 |

Cheers, but the problem is that the 64bit installer errors out at the start, so I don't end up with anything installed...
Looking at a workaround at the moment... |

Hah! Nice! I had an old 10.x install on my laptop that suddenly started doing the file dialog->crash thing to me when I fired it up again to program the 9572's (curiously, it used to work just fine when it was 'new' a number of years ago). I had assumed it was just my old install and something got clobbered over the years... Beats needing to make a new chain and associate files from scratch every time. ;-)

If you find the download sucks, it's because of their sh!t download manager. Skip it and get the files here instead:

Will be triple checking the board before bring up, will be without cpu & fpu. Will be setting the current low 60-90ma as I hope not to be crying. I really will put some pics up.

Is your cable (a) USB? (b) is it genuine Xilinx? (c) if not B then have you used it against ISE 10.1 at least once? if its USB, non-genuine then it will be missing the Xilinx firmware (or at least mine was) and it didnt work at first. I have an old XP laptop kicking around for doing this setup. |

Yup, USB, nope, "waveshare" clone, but it was shipped with ISE 12.2 on a disc, but I had trouble with that installing on Windows 10...
I'll dig out 10.1 from somewhere and give it a try - I can run up an xp virtual machine for it and give it a go. |
