I'm glad you got your data back but I am disappointed with your attitude. You have had two of the most knowledgable people in the Amiga community helping you and you have not believed them when they said it was impossible for the tool to do damage, even though you don't have any proof that it did.

Nothing is impossible, specially on a pretty unknown hardware like the elsat (ohh, and even the provided elsat polish disc that came with the thing give me weird errors after the 2 GB mark... just as a side note.) Nothing is impossible ! But its very funny when people say .. "common Nibbler, push that putton" Very funny stuff, gets me everytime You guys are great And i would push that button... but not on the freaking Elsat no freaking way Last edited by Nibbler; 17 February 2015 at 12:24. |

Without further testing we will never find out what actually happened.
Just in case the damage was not caused by Check4GB, the same could happen to you again at any time. OTOH you have all means to do more testing. You've got a spare CF card (the old one which obviously was not as dead as your thought) and plenty of backups now. So next to no risk. Come on, push that big red button which has "Boom!" written on it |

I did it ... well again.. ( with the old card )
with trembling hand´s i pressed that putton twice " for SCIENCE !!!!! " and guess what ..... same thing happend. Jesus Christ, i dont know what deadly combo this is... ( a few patches in the startup, my CF card , THE FREAKING ELSAT, and CHECK4GB ) BOOOOMMM PC...wont read the card ( no joke guys, no f. joke ) ( like the last time, its only blinking and windows said, "it must be formated", but it cant do it ) well... i will never ever press that button again on the ELSAT !!! This beast is known for some pretty weird things .. like i said. it cant handle more than 2 GB with its custom controller .... ( even with the orginal polish disc ) Whatever happend here in this combo, it poison for this CF card So, i am done with pressing any buttons..... (besides some fire buttons on a joystick of course !) jesus almighty.... Last edited by Nibbler; 18 February 2015 at 00:33. Reason: typing error |

One fellow requested a video. Seriously ?? The card is dead!!! I would not try that with a new one !!! ( i am a pretty poor nibbler ) But i though, "ok, lets destroy the old card on camera...." Of couce it wouldnt record it ( i pressed that button mybe to "soft" ... Now it seems that i am afraid of pressing puttons ...) DAWM... well, here is at least a photo of the card. Now i know how it looks on the inside at least Hmmmm, made in taiwan , i see.... ( yeah, "was made"... an EX CARD now !!) Last edited by Nibbler; 24 August 2018 at 11:12. |

It was a bit silly to destroy the card, it would have been useful for testing to send the card to thomas. Then maybe it would be possible to find out what went wrong but realistically we're still in the dark.
If you PM me your address I'll send you a replacement CF card, I did promise to do that if your card broke again testing this theory. |
