@Kakaboy
I also suggest that you do not use the motherboard *rf shield* as ground - use either a ground plane on the motherboard or from the CXA1145 pin[1] |

Buying anything rated higher than that will be nothing but a complete waste of space and money.
0.25W would even be fine for this application. |

quater watt (as Hewitson say) is really what you need, half watt is fine if thats what you have, but any more than that is waste as its not even going to see a quarter watt of juice.
think back to school amps * volts = watts... you have 50ma * 5 volts = 0.25 watts |

Ok thanks guys , you learn something everyday .
Now that I know how to read resistors and know what im looking for I'll be doing my own shopping from now on . They balls'ed up 2 out of the 3 resistors I asked for . You live & learn . |

At first I thought it may be the caps are backwards but the first thing I would do is double check the values of all your resistors.
If they're alright, perhaps try shorting out one of the caps for a couple of seconds to verify that it is/isn't the issue. Then all you have left is the transistors. |

Your right Hewitson !
Just shorted one of the caps and it come good . I originally had the caps polarities round the wrong way maybe that stuffed one of them . It looks a bit bright but 100% better . Thanks mate |

No problem, glad I could be of some help.
I'd quite like at least two of these boards (unpopulated). Assuming you made yours yourself, is there any chance you could do me a couple for a small fee? |

Great, please let me know how much you would want for them each so I can decide how many I'd like. This looks like a far better circuit than the one I've been using for my megadrive's which consists of just a transistor and a resistor.
Thanks very much Last edited by Hewitson; 08 May 2010 at 12:24. |

If your willing to drill the holes into the pads yourself & ZETRO is ok with us using his design ... I can do a whole sheet of copper with about a dozen PCB's on it for $20 . |

That would be absolutely brilliant mate, if you'd like to PM me your bank/paypal details, I'll deposit the money into your account ASAP.
Thankyou very much to both yourself and Zetr0, who I'm sure won't mind us using his design. |
