Hyperion is that tenant that decides that he might do whatever it please with the house of his landlord, and people just go with it.
Since the current "tenant" is the provisional administrator for Hyperion Entertainment, perhaps your analogy no longer applies.

If all operational activities of Hyperion are ceased, then I guess... but are they? Perhaps not

I can offer a historical guide as to how long this might take, since we do have a prior event concerning Hyperion Entertainment.

In the event an effort -is- being made to resolve this we can compare some dates:

Start date declaration of bankruptcy January 1, 2015

End date response for same April 12, 2015

This might indicate we have a while to wait if circumstances here are similar.

The variable here is the addition of the bankruptcy of Ben's B.V., which was not a factor in the prior example. This new element might suggest much more time required to resolve both issues.
However, the converse might be true as well.

Sorry. It sounds a bit vague, but there are not sufficient facts in hand presently to say more.

Probably a silly question but if Amiga OS 3.2.x was to be sold, does anyone have any idea how much it could be worth/cost? Is there already a group of Amiga fans ready to make a bid if it was to be sold?

@grelbfarlk

Didn't you mean to say "Not less than one trillion dollars in euros"?

For once i agree with Bren and that is why i did support AROS even if right now is still far from being usable on 68k and there are only two devs that considerably work mostly on the x86 trunk, Kalamatee and Deadwood

As long as somebody thinks they can still squeeze any amount of money out of it that's not going to happen.

At least, Hyperion has settled a team of coder to improve the OS despite the threats/constraints of Cloanto.

Threats/constraints? Hyperion *can’t and shouldn’t* legally profit from AmigaOS 3.x. Even so, after Hyperion announced they would sell a new AmigaOS derived from 3.x, Cloanto tried to find an agreement (to avoid unnecessary lawsuits and benefit the users) and told them they could develop AOS3.x, but that it should be released for free to the community. It’s all written in contracts: they only had rights for AmigaOS4 and could use the AmigaOS3 source only to build OS4 upon it - instead Ben Hermans and Hyperion pulled a fast one and decided to start selling OS3 as well, because they caught wind that the money was moving over from OS4 to OS3. And that’s all Hyperion cares about: the money.

It astounds me how people keep defending Hyperion in this day and age. Especially after all their shady dealing with A-EON came to light.

Yes, Cloanto didn’t develop much software during these years. But compared to the total shitshow that Hyperion was, it can’t be any worse. Maybe they will even start paying the developers, who knows

Is the trial over and done with, and is that what emerges from it?
I don't think so...

That's not what the Settlement Agreement says.

This thing about "giving it back to the community" doesn't make any sense, the OS did not come from "the community" in the first place. I've never heard any calls that MorphOS, MacOS, etc. should be "given back to the community", so I'm not sure why the double standard here.
