Ok it's not the .sit but there is a guide on how to setup (win)aiab for MacUAE
Can't see a link from the usual emuunlim.aiab so here it is...

http://web.archive.org/web/200611100...mac/index.html

contains some files which had to replace the win one

Thanks for the link, tero!

I remember that page from back in the day, and I probably saved everything on it at that time.

However, right now the AIAB-2000 r6 zip file has the same problem as the AIAB-2000r8.sit file, and it took some more fiddling with the Wayback Machine to finally get the copy-files.script

The copy-script is not the problem...

copy-files.script.txt

Happy Got a reply from the AIAB author!!

Finally I got a reply today from the AIAB author.
Read here what he has to say:

Quote:
The old, old AIAB website was hacked some time ago, resulting in the
loss of most of the data. [...]
After the site moved to a new location, soon...

Quote:
the comments system was spammed and Jan (AmiKit) was forced to take the site offline.

I haven't spent any time updating AIAB for several years.
Furthermore, he told me that a Cloanto representative contacted him, and asked him if he would agree that Cloanto hosted his files...indeed he sent his files to that guy.
As far, the author doesn't know what the guys @Cloanto have in mind for the AIAB stuff, which was even planned to get
Quote:
perhaps included with AmigaForever (if AIAB's kludgy install scripts could be fixed to work with the AF
system.
...
however, I am wondering if it is worth updating everything one last time, with a view to having the distro included with AF.
Oh yes, it would really be "worth" updating!

Thanks for all your help with this, tero and TCD!
I think I've exhausted the useful content of that archive today. I probably already have copies of most of these files (the games excepted), but some versions of the AIAB archive are different - even when they have the same names, so you can't be too careful.

Deleauvive states here that AIAB may possibly have disappeared for legal reasons. If that is true, many of these files may soon vanish for good.

When I first started using the internet, I created a text file which listed all the files I had downloaded with a brief description of each and its size. The files were listed under headings which were the URLs of the webpages from where they were downloaded.

However, so many of the files have subsequently disappeared and the websites been removed or relaunched somewhere else, that it is now virtually useless and I have not updated it for years...

So, as you say, how do you remember everything? It is almost impossible, I reckon.

Then you know why i store the files not the url
bad ones are then named 1.zip and no readme inside

Found some interest things between these posts
also different aiab's
the oldest one is 5b till the last one (not all between)

and a file that reminds me that there was a MacInABox out there
but the side were down in 2005 and webArchive doesn't contain the downloads

Have you read andreas post? Well, if the creator of AIAB doesn't know...
Oh and Deleauvive didn't gave any reasons, or did he?

Only legal issue i heard was about the Mac-pack because they includes
the mac roms.
at the time i hear that the pack were down in aiab's side so
it's possibly just a rumour.

Which post? I wasn't aware that andreas had heard from James Battle (author of AIAB) yet, or has he?

No, you're right, of course. But maybe he has some theory...

I didn't realize that. But of course, the Mac ROMs are widely available now. It seems that Apple are no longer sending out their "Cease and desist" threats...

Guess I'd better read it now...

Edit: I had wondered what you were talking about when you mentioned AIAB in AF.

Now that's interesting, as long as it's distributed first!

The oldest version I have is r4. Versions prior to this were withdrawn when GIF compression IP ownership was in dispute.

AFAIK, I now have every version between r4 and r10.6, except r5a which I have never found.

Edit: And I have MacAIAB r10b and r10c. (I'm not sure yet what version was uploaded today, but I would guess that it's r10c.) Thus it's a great pity that the r8 archive we have found today is truncated.

Incidentally, the problem with MacUAE 0.8.6 is that the hard disk support is broken.

Evidently my guess was wrong. The MacAIAB.sit file in the Zone is AIAB r10b for Macintosh, not r10c.
