Tales of Tamar looks promising if the screenshots are from the Amiga version.

Ohh man, what a travesty! Shufflepuck Café is one of THE best games I have ever played. I don't like this one
I like Shufflepuck Café so much that I went back to the roots. Here is a pic of me playing the ORIGINAL version on my Classic II . It has the same sounds and all, but it's in black&white |

I may write a game if I have the time, I really need to design the graphics first unless i work with crude shapes until I have the time to design the graphics the way I want. it's an idea I've had since I had an A500, but just never got around to actually doing so. It's a cross between a shootem-up and a 3D game.

And Burzekia also pointed out the sad state of some Amiga games, those slipshoders released for the desperate masses. Last edited by Fred the Fop; 01 October 2002 at 09:28. |

How's it going? I think I know what game you're talking about here. I've got it on an Amiga Format coverdisk somewhere I'll dig it out for ya. If I remember rightly it was originally a (spit spit) PC game but I might be wrong. I can't remember the name of it but I know you can alter the screen resolution of the game. It uses RTG Master I think. It's got good graphics but I'm not sure if it ever saw the light of day. |

Is the game called ABUSE? I've got a demo of it on Amiga Format CD 30. It's an awesome game with great graphics. It's a bit big though at 12MB. Anyone know much about this game?

The Turrican clone you're talking about may be "Land of Genesis". A German review (including some screenshots) can be found here.
Short version of the review: Impressive intro- menu and background graphics, poorly designed enemies, bad sound, technically flawed. Abuse is a PC title, a "sort of Turrican clone". The sources were GPLed about 5 years ago it was then ported to the Amiga by the Frieden brothers. The executable can be found on Aminet, it requires the data files (either shareware or commercial versions) of the PC version. Abuse was praised by the PC press when it was originally released. |

You're maybe referring to "Thexder", Akira.

Thexder is OLD , circa 1986 .
BTW, the original MSX version of Thexder is still the best one around |

Man, the MSX version is THE version to play. I think Sierra couldn't make a proper conversion of Thexder to any system.
I like what Square did with Thexder on NES, but it's still far away from the MSX version. I always felt the Amiga version was slower, it didn't had the excellent sound from the MSX version, and the MSX version has slightly better graphics. And if you like Thexder, you REALLY should try the sequel, "Fire Hawk: Thexder Second Contact" , which is just FANTASTIC. I dunno if it was released on Amiga though. I know it was released on PC, and it was a bit cack compared to the MSX version. BTW, I just fired up Thexder on FMSX-DOS to take those screenshots, and I noticed the game runs slower than in a real msx . Edit: PSP screwed my last screenshot, so I am uploading it again |
