The A1000 was the original "big daddy" but the A500 is the one people can associate with more due to it's popularity (back then)

A500 (expanded to 1meg), no contest. That little machine kicked some major ass for years and years.

Bah, clicked too fast
I was thinking either A1000 (1985 awesome innovation in style), CD32 (the only Amiga with chunky pixels), or A4000T (latest and greatest Amiga model), but I think everyone will vote for the model they first owned/saw, if it comes to "associations". So can I change my vote? I dunno if I should choose A1000, since I saw that first, or A500, which is what made me realize what it could do and how it was several tiers above anything else. (Archimedes was unheard of here until maybe 1990.) |

The one that broke the mould, made the biggest impact, and moved the game on the most by being affordable was the 500. It was my first Amiga. I still remember vividly watching juggler in the window of a computer shop: it was a bit like wayne's world... "Oh yes, one day she will be mine"
The 1000 and 3000 jointly tie second place in my books. The 1000 was what started it all, and was groundbreaking - and commercially brave - in so many ways. It was too expensive and was desperately trying to work out who it should appeal to... The 500 sorted that out! The 3000 was, as Jope says, the no holds barred "kick it to apple" move and is probably still my favourite Amiga. It's a shame the 3000+ never made it, but the 3000 is a great machine in so many ways. |

The Amiga 500 for me. It was the computer that bought a load of new things to the table that no other computer of the time had such as custom hardware and all at a affordable price to be a true home computer.
It was a better computer than computers that cost over double its price. I know some say the A1200 but for me at the time of release it didnt bring anything really new to the market as we had seen it all before and from a technical view point it was out classed by other systems of that time. |

All my memories belongs to my first machine, The Amiga 500. Recently I have many models (still looking for some, as a collector) but I can say that I'm mainly focusing to start a WB for the WHDLoaded stuff if I have time. in my very few free minutes for myself I'm running those apps/games/demos which was released on it originally.
And although I love all the wares available on Amiga, I think this machine shows more with it's releases than any other Amiga models later with much more massive performance. (The flight sim Combat Air Patrol, the racing games Lotus I-III, the pinball games or the special levelsin the jump'N'run games Mr. Nutz or Brian, or the ultra-spectacular tunnel level in Stardust. But I love the Startrekker as tracker, and Imagine as raytracer. And EdPlayer was written to Amiga 500 too, which is the coolest modplayer IMHO Holy shit, I've forgot Shadow Of The Beast! |

Gotta be the CDTV...
... as it is the only Amiga that has been constantly on my desk for almost 20 years. No matter what else I have to use, I can always find room on the desk for my CDTV, therefore it has gotten the most constant use over the years. Now with PROM upgrades, Flash HD's, Scandoubler's (and hopefully an accelerator in the future) it is still looking great and working great!
Bonus points, I always know what time it is. Matt |

Easily the 1000. It was the only Amiga that was actually revolutionary.

My opinion:
The Amiga 500 caused great impact and it was essential for the real Amiga beginning, surely much better than A1000. However I voted the A1200 because I believe that with A500 only and without the A1200, 90% of us wouldn't be in this forum. I fully agree with Fabie: - The A1200 is about 17 years old and it's the computer that almost every fan uses, beautiful design and represent today the world "Amiga" - |

My first Amiga was the 1200 more than 14 years ago, I think it is fantastic especially now when you can add a CF drive instead of a mechanical hard drive, you can also use a CF to PCMCIA adaptor to transfer files from your PC to the Amiga things like WHDLoad games for example. Brilliant computer and much better than an emulator in my eyes.

The Amiga 500 with 1 MegaByte RAM, Kickstart 1.3, 1 extra external floppydrive and at least 2 diskboxes full of games was the greatest!

Very torn between a500 and a1200. A500 for the groundbreaking affordable machine that really kicked it all off. A1200 because it kept the amiga going for so much longer than it would've otherwise done and because it converted so many of my ST owning friends to the Amiga. I think the final decision has to be the A1200 for me.
hmmm... some people actually voted a600?? crazy! |

Has to be the 1200 for me. There are just so many add-ons available for it. You can take it in different directions to suit your needs or interests. I had a 500 way back, it was great but i was pleased to get a 1200.
