@jbenam Yes I own an MT32 and two yamaha ones MU80 and Mu128. The yamaha has a mode to emulate the mt32 and the other roland midi modes. It indeed sounds different. It's more dirrect and harder sounding on the Yamaha. The Roland Mt32 is softer. but i wouldn't say it sounds worse on the yamaha ones. (my experience is based on playing around with my x68000).

@ jbenam You are absolutely right, the SC50 MK2 can do MT32 simulation but it can't handle patched sounds, it only has the mt32 original sounds. But most MT32 games will sound ok'ish. Monkey island sounds the best on the real MT32, with it's bad piano's :-) The way better piano's on the sc50 sound a bit out of place.

The only bad thing with my MT32 is it drops 6 notes in the monkey island 2 opening.

You can see my awesome little Roland box used as a monitor stand in the video

MT-32 is also supported

I hope to finished putting a release together over the weekend which I'll upload to AmiNet next week.
And so, this is about to be released...

Waiting for some input.

What Game do you prefer to try first (best sound/music)?

Loads of old PC games seem to support MIDI

I don't have much time for testing these days but everything I've tried so far sounds great.

It looks like ScummVM supports both MT-32 and general MIDI so it doesn't matter which box you have. I've actually sold my MT-32 and I'm using a GM box now.

Currently having some issues building the release package, the ScummVM team must have made some changes when they went to v1.6.0 that my old compiler doesn't like. Hopefully I can build a stable release soon.

v1.6.0 also runs slower than v1.4.0 for some reason so I think this will have to be 060 only.

Awesome!
Since I don't want to shell out the ridiculous amount of cash people ask for an MT32, I will probably use a PC synth that supports soundfonts.

Can't you keep both releases up so people with 030s can use this?

Which GM Box do you use on the Amiga?

I've had to give up on porting v1.6.0, it was running slowly and was very unstable

So I've switch to v1.5.0 which is coming together nicely now [ Show youtube player ]

As expected, it sounds good with VirtualMIDISynth and some well selected soundfonts.
Thanks a lot for that great last upgrade to an awesome peace of software?

When you say "the other versions", do you mean a gfx card version, too?

Thanks

Yes if I get time I'll do an RTG version with a basic 2x scaler.

I also want to attempt a special SDL version for AmiKit using my latest SDL library.

Nice. Since speed doesn't really matter when using an emulater you could implement something better than 2x in both the amikit and RTG version.
Seems you won't get rid of the good old miggi as quick as you thought. ^^

btw MI2 sounds awesome with midi !!!
Why did I never try midi with the PC version of scumm before? Oh I did but at the time I was still using the windows default midi emu.
Forget it - for WinUAE+midi+cheap onbord soundcard download VirtualMidiSynth and some cool soundfonts. If anyone can find a free MT-32 sounfont for it feel free to post a link...

I've connected the SC55 with my Amiga4000 - but unfortunatly i got only soundeffects and no music. I've followed the instructions in the youtube video and selected in the SCUMMVM options "CAMD". Configuration: A4000 with MelodyPro. SC55 connected via serial Midi device and Midi In at the SC55. Audio goes from the SC55 Audio output to the line2 input from the Melody. Do I have to download some additional midi files? Is the MT32 also supported?

Hiya,

Have you installed the CAMD libraries?

You need to install CAMD and then run the CAMD Prefs program called 'MidiPorts'. Choose 'internal serial' as your selected port.

You don't have to download the MIDI files, the MIDI notes are generated from the ScummVM application in real-time.

Yes, there is a setting for MT-32 within the ScummVM options
