After all the playing around with Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Succession Wars I've done in order to try to get saved games to load without issue, but been unsuccessful
It seems this game runs slightly better without an MMU being selected. So have updated the configuration for this game Please just download / extract this archive into "C:\WinUAE". |

Soooo...
After fighting these and that i finally can enjoy and appreciate the work that Damien has done creating this wonderful collection. Did some more wild clicking and playing different things for short amounts of times just to test. Everything Damien supplied worked out of the box, which is great. I think now it is time to party on and play! A big Thank You to DamienD for your work and dedication for this collection. Also for your support and patience. best regards and stay healthy (all of you) prof |

IF this were to be done, I suspect the best way to do it would be to use the bridgeboard emulation in WinUAE, rather than trying to use something like PC-Task. This would give much better results, and would allow emulation of a 386sx with VGA and soundblaster. Wouldn't be anywhere near fast enough for something like the MS-DOS version of Doom, because that really needs a faster x86 CPU than a 386 on a 16-bit bus, but should be good enough for some games I'd think. Just food for thought.

Besides running my collection and seeing this in action, you only have to look at any screenshots that I ever post in this thread. Scanline goodness ...without them things look too blocky for my liking, and reminiscent of early PC days, PUKE |

I'm currently disabling the settings as on CRT running at 240p the additional scanlines just looks wrong lol. |

Yeah, thats the unedited output with "Damien default settings".
Looks really good. Sadly i cant see the LEDs because of overscan wich i cant disable or work around without ruining the scanlines. I think ive seen something in the Winuae settings that could shrink the whole screen, have to fiddle around there some day. For now it is a great retro experience. |

The LEDs should always be visible no matter if you running a game that's set at 640x480 or 720x576 resolution. Your graphics card settings aren't stretching the image are they? See here: Quote:

I have the scaling set to Aspect and GPU, like on that screenie.
Thing is, my old LCD (Panasonic TX32-LX63F) does a massive overscan. It has a 1366x768 Panel but visible it is more like roundabout 1200x650 (dont have actual size at hand). Windows tells, the native resolution would be 1280x720, but that doesnt matter, it only allows to run a progressive mode instead of interlaced. This overscan is active for all available (or created) resolutions. It cant be deactivated in the TV or remedied by TV Aspect Settings of any kind. Forcing a scaling (shrink of screen in this case) kills the scanlines and text in windows too. I can provide pics if needed, but that is a limitation of my tv. |

As an alternative to the Mac / ShapeShifter version of Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Succession Wars; in which a saved "Campaign Game" will not load, and you cannot use "Save States"...
I've now added in meynaf's awesome Amiga port of the Mac / PC version: Heroes of Might and Magic II With this saving / loading of a "Campaign Game" works fine If I'm honest though, it's just slightly less smooth that when running via ShapeShifter but... Anyway, so please just download / extract this archive into "C:\WinUAE" Last edited by DamienD; 04 February 2021 at 15:55. |

Running on a computer with monitor, or on a laptop is fine though hey? I'll think about it, but probably won't go down the DOS route. |

As a last check ill let it run on the tv in our living room, which is a little more up to date and without that dreaded overscan. Maybe tonight, depends on the time i am done with other stuff. edit: at a resolution of 1280x720 the visible area is 1202x676. Last edited by profo; 04 February 2021 at 17:33. |

If anybody is interested in DOS games for the PC, I came across this searching for something a good while back Off topic somewhat, but may help those in search of DOS games and is in a similar vein to Damien's collection but DOS only Running emulated DOS on an emulated Amiga could be pushing the limits on some systems especially those who run it via laptop or low end systems, which is what I think some are asking Its a HUGE download (500 GB) and takes considerable time to unpack but its all there ready to run with over 7000 DOS games, configured and runable https://exodos.the-eye.us/ There is download though from the same project site, that is only 50 GB and downloads only the games you choose to after installation, so only downloads the minimum where the pack above is everything https://exodos.the-eye.us/lite.html Last edited by steptoe; 05 February 2021 at 09:17. |
