the small black heatsink with built-in fan is better served on the original phase 5 heatsink where the phase 5 heatsink is cut-out and the fan/heatsink combo replace the cut-out the the phase 5 heatsink where the fan/heatsink combo comes into contact with the PPC processor which i use here for testing.
you have to find a way to cool both Bvision & Blizzard PPC card without any cut-outs with original trapdoor put back (no cut-0uts allowed) which i have done here. Bvision ram does not need heatsink even at 100Mhz *new* standard on my card. if you are going to put heatsink on Bvision ram you have to find a way to add heatsink on the lower side of the card which i have done in the passed, but is not needed with all the test i have done. Recommend: get the correct size heatsink/fan for Bvision like in the photo below. http://www.amiga.org/gallery/index.php?n=3404 Last edited by delshay; 26 February 2011 at 08:30. |

You'll be pleased to know I've decided to re-read Pet Cemetary and have mounted some fugly feet instead. It does the job for now whilst I work out a long term solution. Quote:
The fan I put on the BVision again is doing an outstanding job, so no immediate plans to change it. No Heatsinks on the BVision Ram, don't need them as even after prolonged use they're not hot, the chip in the bottom right gets pretty hot so I popped a little Heatsink on that for good measure. Otherwise BVision 100% happy. Either way I don't *have* to do anything, after all its my project Cheers, Steve. |

Hey guys!
Just dropping by with some updated pics of the project Not the most elegant solution but takes some strain off the A1200 Motherboard, fans are now wired to this Molex and direct to PSU: Here's my crazy finger maming, blizzard cooler... IDE Fix Express is in, had to use a 40pin CF-IDE because for some reason it would pick up the CF Card on the 44pin one - maybe cable was too long? Anyway, working and shares power off the Molex-ATX PSU: Spaghetti Junction And some more shots for fun... Thanks for looking! Hope you enjoyed the hardware pr0n Last edited by fitzsteve; 18 March 2011 at 11:13. Reason: sdded thumbnails |
