My observation is that a well tuned CWB3.9 installation is rather faster than a ClassicWB Full/Adv/AdvSp based on WB3.1 and Scalos.

Cammy's setup is just AWESOME, but on AGA machines where 16 color screenmodes are just speedy and fun (even 256 colors is fun tbh). On ECS environments and Hi-Res modes, workbench isn't fun @ 16 colors.
I found that best compromise is 8 colors (unless you don't mind the classic 4 color workbench scheme) for ECS chipset even on 030 accelerated Amigas.

I agree mfilos. 3.9 is faster than scalos on ECS. I made peace with drawers opening being little slow. Whole system works great though. I prefer to wait 2 seconds than look at 8 or 4 colours. but that's me. I absolutely love workbench at 800x600 with no black border and 16 colours. I might start working on some icons in spare time.
