I always thought Beatbox was the lowest scoring table. I knew you could continually hold and double your bonus but you'd have to be rediculously consistant to reach that kind of score.

The total of my best scores on these tables is around 750,000,000

Maybe I was wrong and all was not lost. I managed to get a 50 million bonus (yup you read that correctly!) today on the Nightmare table

BTW, it seems that trying to enter a space as part of the name on the Steel Wheel table always ends up as an N. I had that happen on the original (bad) disks too. Is that just me??

This is a cracked version problem. Original version is not affected by that as well as WHDLoad version.

Not sure if anyone else knows this, but if you hold down one of the flippers for 5 seconds (so the ball doesn't move) you get a status message scroll across the top of the screen. It gives you the current jackpot bonus, the ball number you are currently using, your current multiplier bonus and finally the current top 4 scores for that table.

The same happens when you are playing and the ball is not hitting anything. It is a very rare situation but sometimes it is possible.

I had the status message come up a few times and that must be why. It always annoyed me that it would activate when I couldn't take my eyes off the ball, until I discovered how to activate it deliberately.

If you're wondering how that is possible, hold and double bonus are both relatively easy to obtain on Beat Box, and you can get them repeatedly on each ball. There are also two different ways of getting an extra ball. By lighting hold and double bonus, you are half way to both of those extra balls. If you are consistant enough, you can hold and double/quadriple etc your bonus on each ball and the bonus increases exponentially. With plenty of extra balls, billion point bonuses are obtainable.

Completing three green arrows lights hold bonus (after that if will light double bonus and score bonus and then repeat)

Lighting three white arrows lights double bonus.

Lighting three white arrows a second time on the same ball lights an extra ball

Completing a set of white, green and blue arrows on the same ball and then hitting the ramp with the flashing green circles is another way to get an extra ball.

Repeat, repeat, repeat...

Yes, that's the technique. Well applied.

Btw., the 3 white lights on Steel Wheel act the same as the 3 green arrows do on Beat Box: first Hold Bonus, then repeatedly Double Bonus and Score Bonus.
So billion scores are possible there, too (you're more likely to lose the ball though on Steel Wheel when shooting at the white lights).

Wow! Congrats on such a great score.

I always knew that high scores are possible in theory. In my case I usually get a multiplier (or extra ball available etc.) and then the ball bounces straight out of play going nowhere near the flippers

I'll be happy if I can hold on to 3rd place... but I expect to get knocked down a few spots over the next few days.

If you asked me a week ago which Digital Illusions table was the lowest scoring, I'd have said Beat Box. I was just going to try and rack up 30 million and then concentrate on the other three. When I read that John had posted 800m at first I thought it was a mistake, then I started wondering how that was possible.

Do you use the same method on Steel Wheel John? I find the bonus enhancer trap too hard to hit, so usually I just try to get the top ramp up to 2m and then hit it as often as possible
