The goal is to re-release classic video games from the 80’s and 90’s via a player that works on mobile phones, tablets, and smart TVs. This includes 100s of popular games from Amiga, Atari and others.

You can learn more about it on the Kickstarter website: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...nfinity-player
As I assume I'm actually addressing someone behind this Kickstarter, here's a list of friendly advices:

  • Put a little effort into your images. Many of the Photoshop jobs (like the jagged edge cut-in) are sloppy to say the least.
  • If you have an "extensive demo" show it! Nothing sells better than actually showing the goods.
  • Don't build your pitch video around stock photos and badly resolutioned images you just found on the net (if not Nintendo merchandise is included that is? ).
  • Pitch your Kickstarter to players, not venture capitalists. If you're in it for taking a share of the growing market it's at least honest, but not really a reason for people to become backers, is it?
  • Explain what people get, there's no way to understand what the included "credits" actually is worth to anyone.
  • Revise your price point. Looking at the levels, $10+ per game is way more than what they actually are worth on todays market even to the most hardcore nostalgics.
  • Build a fan base before adding company merchandise as perks. Although it's nice with companies which are proud of their brand, others actually don't care about getting a screen saver or t-shirt with the company logo.
  • Focus on licensing the top titles. It's far better to go for the games people remember as good and not generic old games. There's a reason why people remember them and in some cases they may have stood the test of time.
  • And finally *if* you're posting PR on other websites, be tranparent about you being the sender!

They wouldn't need the campaign at all if they hadn't thrown out all their money for Nascar marketing. I wonder how much that costs.

At least they are honest - they want a part of big money pie...

Create emulator for 2 games you have license for... with possible extension with more games (for more money) from idiots that would support emulator like this...

But guess what, playing those amiga games on iPad/tablet/phone is not really fun due to controller.

Not to mention that Atari TOS distribution prohibit monetary gains... and as no question about kickstart, I side with many who think that Amiga Inc. is behind this scam.

So yes, scam is a scam...

Most likely in some way since they even answer questions about it on Facebook (see comment and answer):

Also, number6 has a really interesting thread with a lot of background information over at Amigaworld.net:

Oh my...
BILL MCEWEN?
That's a name I thought was buried and I would never read again.

GO AWAY!

Why can't these people let the Amiga die peacefully so we can take over and do what we want with it?

Not really, she don't look the Amiga type. I think her reply would be "What the hell is an Amiga".
Apparently No one uses Amiga's anymore, .

Looks like this effort won't reach its funding goal.

Is that an incentive?

Conclusion: This has to be a joke. Or it's an exceptionally blatant scam attempt. 100K$ for repackaging an emulator and games.

My thoughts exactly. I was both aghast and on the verge of bursting into uncontrolled laughter while watching the video.

These people are so greedy they do not even realize they are exposing their greed for all to see: "make us rich, please, please". This is beyond pitiful.

It is a shame of interstellar proportion that these idiots got their hands on the Amiga rights.
