Put it in the machine,installed the software.....reset the computer and....... its starts booting up then crashes........hmmm I did not get any cable for this card with it.......so what actually do i need ? Also....should the card work in the amiga with no cable any way or not ? Also...will this card work with only a 68000 cpu or not ? |

1. what version of AmigaOS is installed on your A1500? 2. what driver software are you using for the card (the one shipped with it/CyberGFX/Picasso96)? 3. what exactly does "it crashes" mean? Be as precise as possible Quote:

A1500 = 3.1 kickstart & 3.1 Workbench
Ok......put my 030 combo accelerator back in and the system and it now boots up ! Plugged in an svga monitor into the back of it.....disconnected the amiga monitor from the A1500's video port and the display popped up onto the svga monitor ! On the svga monitor,the display looks very grey and dull ? The only drivers i have installed are the 4 disks that came with the picollo card 1,2,3 & TvPaint. If i was not using this card on an svga monitor but on my 1084s instead......what benefits would i get from this additional grahics card ? |

using the svga: The major benefits you will get are size and speed, you can have a 800x600 (maybe even 1024x768) 65,000ish colour screen that is as fast as an aga 640x256 16 colour screen. You can also use 'laced' sized screens without flicker... As for your 'dull' appearance, play with the monitor's settings... |

I´m using a piccolo sd64, which is a zorro2/3 autosensing-card. For the ecs modes i´m using a scandoubler. The signal from the scandoubler goes into the piccolo sd64 and from there to the monitor. So i can use the amiga modes and the graphiccard on one monitor. Quite nice!

Can you tell me if Cybergraphx and picasso 96 are replacement
drivers for the original one's that came with my graphics card ? Do i install one of these instead of the one's that came with the graphics card ? Which is better.....picasso 96 or CybergraphX ? |

P96 and CybergraphX are indeed replacements for the original Drivers .... but they are also required for most games/apps to work flawlessly
I got an EGS-Spectrum 28/24 gfx card which works with both, P96 and CGFX ... all I can say is, the CGFX Drivers are a bit faster but P96 is slightly more compatible to newer games/apps For the WB itself, it may not have any effect if you use CGFX or P96 |

But you would reccomend installing one of these rather
than the one's that came with my card ? My card supports EGS so does Cybergraphx & Picasso 96 support this as well ? Quote:

Just be sure you killed EVERY single file from previous driver installations, two gfx drivers are not very good working together at the same time after that, try the installation routine again

I removed Picasso 96 & installed CyberGraphX but this
had exactly the same problem ? I took everything off and installed 3.1 and then picasso96, and still it won't boot up.....still says there's a software failure. Last edited by THX1138; 26 January 2003 at 20:52. |

Hmmmm......don't think it was anything to do with the Picollo
card after all. The problem was that i didn't have my memory board connected to my accelerator board. As soon as i done this the system booted up ok ! Although it boots up ok the system is crashing all the time..... Didn't think this would make any difference as my scsi controller has got 8 meg installed on it anyway ? Don't think my acclerator board can use the 8mb on my scsi controller as they are not GVP simms ? System specs: A1500 Revision 6.xx 1 meg chip ram 3.1 Kickstart GVP Impact II Series 2000 HC+8 (8mb installed) GVP A3000 030 @ 50 mhz accelerator card GVP A3001 memory board with 4 x 1mb GVP simms installed Picollo Graphics card (don't know if this is 1mb or 2mb ?) The problem is i don't know if the accelerator board is setup properly.The reason i think this is because 4mb on the memory board seems to only work with the acclerator at 36mhz ? The accelerator board will work at 50 mhz if the memory board is removed. When the memory board is removed,the speed test from sysinfo reports horrible results....but when the memory board is attached it reports 6700. I have look at the jumper setting spec sheet on this card but i don't really understand it. I am able to switch between the 2 modes 36mhz & 50 mhz because there are 2 occilators on the board. Does this make sense to anybody out there ? Can anyone help me ? |
