those requierements of that game are rather strange for an ecs game. but things may chance in a future update of the fpga core. as an example, in 2010 yaqube made some changes to the minimig fpga core to increase the chip mem, take a look at that video - skip to 1m 8s - avail/showconfig commands: [ Show youtube player ] since an (s)aga chipset addon (software update of the fpga core) was mentioned for the vampire cards, it's quite possible you will have more chip mem with a future update. Thanks. And boiling it down, will that 1MB chipmem automatically replace my current flawed 1MB chipmem?
Or will I have to reinstate the traces on my board to get the Vampire chipmem? Thanks!! |

no no no, you will keep your 1mb chip ram, the 128mb onboard of vampire
will be added as fast ram. what was shown in the video, are the possibilities with those fpga based cards. apollo team may once add such chip mem feature, so with a simple software update of the vampire you may get more chip mem. Last edited by emufan; 10 December 2016 at 03:05. |

Great, got it.
My goal is to switch off the chipmem mod I did, and have the Vampire provide it via a different route. I hope that will be possible via the software settings. |

That may come in the future so don't make any changes in anticipation. For right now, you don't need to change anything. For planar screens, the computer will use chip memory. For RTG it will use the Vampire memory.

Fantastic!
I honestly don't know why he didn't do this a year ago. Just glad he has come to his senses as it was unrealistic for him and kipper to keep trying to build all the Vampire boards by hand. |

Setting up a mass production is not something you just do as it does require a significant effort so you only do it if you are 100% sure that you need a significant quantity produced. Finally, it is always easy to judge in hindsight but it is allowed to learn from experiences and change your mind without having to excuse previous choices. |

Yes, I'm sure he needs to hear this again. People who have never done anything enterprising really shouldn't give advice or question.
