I'll check later this week..

Firstly, thanks to everyone involved with this... be it WinUAE, converting video files, working out the required settings / configuration etc.

All working fine under 3.4.0; that's provided in your pack earok.

Setup the configuration file manually thanks to the detailed instructions, so that I understand what's going on

...and I see what you mean when using 4.3.0 and no bullets actually being shot.

Also, noticed that you've set "<F4> = Holster / Reload".

From the following, any reason why you don't set "Button 2 - ALG Right Holster"?

Code:
4) Input: remap Configuration #1 - Mouse
X Axis - Lightpen Horizontal
Y Axis - Lightpen Vertical
Button 1 - ALG Right Trigger

Not sure if it's possible but would be cool after calibrating the gun that something like an .NVR file gets created / saved so that you don't need to do this everytime you play?

Another question, these .DAT files in the "ALG.zip" ROM archive seem useless:
  • alg_cp01.dat
  • alg_cp02.dat
  • alg_cp2_1.dat
  • alg_cp2_2.dat
  • alg_gg_1.dat
  • alg_gg_2.dat
  • alg_maddog_01.dat
  • alg_maddog_02.dat
  • alg_sp_01.dat
  • alg_sp_02.dat
After doing a "Rescan ROMs" and looking in the registry; these are not referenced anywhere at all.

Also, if removed the games still work perfectly

So, what is the purpose of these .DAT files and are they really required within Amiga use?

I've now tested all games

One issue I'm having with both "Mad Dog McCree" & "Mad Dog II - The Lost Gold" is as follows:
When calibrating the gun, and shooting directly in the middle of the target... testing afterwards, and the bullets are actually to the right / below where it should be

...and for some reason even worse in-game:

No such issues with "Gallagher's Gallery".

Anyone else experienced this?

I did notice that myself, but found that it's possible to compensate a little bit by shooting slightly off to the center during calibration.

I did actually try a little to the "left / up"; plus quite a few various other combinations, but things never got close to perfect like with Gallagher's Gallery's accuracy

Also Erik; you should definitely set the following and remove "Input --> Configuration #1 --> Standard PS/2 Keyboard --> F4 = ALG Right Holster". This works perfectly with "Mad Dog McCree" & "Mad Dog II - The Lost Gold" for reloading

Code:
4) Input: remap Configuration #1 - Mouse
X Axis - Lightpen Horizontal
Y Axis - Lightpen Vertical
Button 1 - ALG Right Trigger
Button 2 - ALG Right Holster

I'll put that in a future update will hold off for a few days at least though, it takes ~6 hours to upload for me.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat beside being in the middle of London

Personally, I would wait until Toni has the time to:
  • Fix the bullet shooting in the latest stable version of WinUAE i.e. v4.3.0.
  • Possibly add .NVR saving of the settings / gun calibration for ALG... maybe after doing this and setting for "Gallagher's Gallery's", it will also work perfectly for "Mad Dog McCree" & "Mad Dog II - The Lost Gold".
...at least that's what I'm doing

I can't duplicate. Calibration screen: press trigger, sounds is played, screen flashes and hit marker appears (if START is not kept pressed) temporary. Used 4.3.0 (do not use any later alphas)

Using same config I originally used when ALG support wass added.

I had the sme issue as earok with v4.3.0, only white flashing screen and no bullets being fire. Same when in-game.

Anyway, will try again tonight.

Which exact games? (there are multiple versions).

I tried both "American Laser Games Mad Dog II: The Lost Gold v2.04" and "American Laser Games Gallagher's Gallery v2.1".

I tried all games in earok's pack.

"American Laser Games Gallagher's Gallery v2.1", "American Laser Games Mad Dog McCree (can't remeber the version)" and "American Laser Games Mad Dog II: The Lost Gold v2.04".

All were fine in v3.4.0 but not when using v4.3.0.

Same process for gun calibration was used as detailed below:

6. Press F1 to exit Gun Aiming
7. Press F1 until Done is highlighted
8. Press F2

Hi Toni,

Home now and have tested "ALG Gallagher's Gallery v2.1" with 4.3.0.

Sadly, same issue as what earok and myself have reported, only white flashing screens and no bullets being fired or shooting sound.

The exact same configuration works perfectly on 3.4.0.

Also, even if you don't calibrate the gun, you can still fire when using 3.4.0 but the targeting is just off. Not so when using 4.3.0, something is wrong.

I've attached my configuration file; maybe you can see something obvious that we are missing?

Would logs also help?

Try switching from Right trigger to Left trigger. 3.5 added two player support and it is possible original single player trigger/holster was mislabeled.

I'm sure I tried that already but will try again now

...nope no difference

What happens for you if you load my configuration file on your 4.3.0; all working correctly or?

Maybe you could upload your working configuration file for us?

I think Toni's right - I changed ALL of the settings from R player to L player, and it seems to work on 4.3.0 for me now.

One thing I did in the config was set the trigger on numerous different mouse configurations, may be best to either create a fresh config or do a find and replace in the config for -> SPC_ALG_R to SPC_ALG_L

When I do the next update, I'll include the latest WinUAE and have everything set to Left player. Thanks Toni

What? I mean that's great

...but I tried this, well at least I swapped Right --> Left here:

Code:
4) Input: remap Configuration #1 - Mouse
Button 1 - ALG Right Trigger --> ALG Left Trigger
Button 2 - ALG Right Holster --> ALG Left Holster
Is there anything else I'm missing?

There's other mouse configurations on the drop down, I think this is to support things like USB mice vs laptop trackpad mice vs PS/2 mice and such. Make sure ALL of them are configured that same way.

The configuration that works perfect in v3.4.0 has this set:

"Windows Mouse" is what I use in all my 3020 x configuration files and works without issue

On my laptop I also have the following entries, which are currently blank:
  • HID-compliant mouse [1]
  • HID-compliant mouse [2]
So you are saying I need to firstly change "Right" --> "Left", and then configure the above across all 3 x "mouse" entries?

Ok if it works, but seems a bit extreme... surely only one mouse entry should need to be configured?
