ransom1122 sent me this PM today regarding The Karate Kid Part II:

1. Its automatically trained by pressing P skips stage.... this action is enabled by typing miyagi on the high score table first.. not in your adf.... i would rather allow P to pause the game i believe as default..

2. When you punch joy direction up & right, it causes the character to always glitch.

3. Cracktro mentions game has been fast loaded enhanced.. this is a loading speed hack of some sort.. i don't like it.. i used to own the original back in '87 and it never did that.

4. When you crack 6 sheets of ice in the bonus round, the sixth sheet seems only half broken? Gfx glitch there..

5. During the laoding phase of stages occasianly the screen gfx glitches but then gets back to normal when the fight round starts.

6. Also after beating round 2 you don't see you bonus score you obtain after beating an enemy

As you can see plenty of issues....

I would hope you can find a better adf, so I can use on my amiga if possible...
To be honest, I just grabbed the same file as GameBase Amiga, but without the [b doscopy].

Anyway, only other available options are the "SCA" crack or an extended .ADF.

Tested both of these, pressing [P] doesn't pause the game and skips stages so the first point is mute.

Quickly tested the SCA version and seems good but I'm not going to play through this mediocre game...

So, please just do the following:
  • Delete the <gamedir> "C:\WinUAE\Games\The Karate Kid Part II".
  • Download / extract this file into "C:\WinUAE".

Check this thread for my findings. I haven't tested pausing or cheats.

There's also issues in the WHDLoad slave. I've rewritten it and it's been at about 90% complete for months now. I've just been too lazy to complete the rest

Hey m8, according to Radertified you've replaced it with an even worse version

Heya Belgo,

ROFL, really...

Well, the options aren't great:

... HQC trained version (with issues ransomm1122 reported)
... SCA version (which Radertified is saying has issues)
... Extended .ADF (which Radertified is saying also has issues)

Seems I have to use this one then:

The extended ADF that BarryB uploaded worked.

I don't know if I still have it around though. I'll check later.

Cheers guys

No manual code protection or anything?

...but this means real Amiga users don't really have a solution.

Oh well, not my issue

Ok, I've updated The Karate Kid Part II again.

Now using BarryB's extended .ADF, but I added an "S/Startup-Sequence" as people will forget to type "kk" in order to start the game...

So, please just do the following:
  • Delete the <gamedir> "C:\WinUAE\Games\The Karate Kid Part II".
  • Download / extract this file into "C:\WinUAE".

The disk definitely has some protection because you can't just copy it. Adding a startup-sequence may or may not work since it could overwrite crucial bytes on the disk that aren't visible from AmigaDOS.

I'll give it a whirl later to see, but I think the only way to be sure is if someone cracked it properly.

Are these (and the screenshots) included in update packs or do we need to do each of these as well to stay "current" ??

Yes, any interim additions / fixes etc. get rolled into the next Update Pack

Home from work now and tortured myself by finishing this game:

The extended .ADF (with S/Startup-Sequence) looked good to me; no graphics issues observed etc.

I actually forgot to test last night because I decided to work on the WHDLoad slave. Whoops!

Thanks for testing. I'm glad it worked

Probably best if ransom1122 and yourself test this also

...since you guys know the game inside out; and actually enjoy it

While I'm always wary of writing files onto a disk and potentially overwriting data, I tested it and it does seem to be 100%. Well, 100% for this version of the game.

Tested game to completion. Tested losses. Winning and losing bonus stages. 1 and 2 player. etc. All variations that I could think of and I see no problems other than graphical glitches and the "Just in time" bug that seem to be in all currently available versions.
