[ Show youtube player ] It is a TF328 though, and I think that may be where some of the confusion is coming from. Perhaps there is another video? |

Yes. The TF328 has ram cpld first then mux. On the TF530 the Bus cpld is first then the RAM cpld. |

I have my TF530 v3 almost complete. waiting on Resistors r1, r2, r3 the 030 and some jumpers and breakable pin headers.
My question is can I program the Xilinx chips without these parts? will have the Xilinx programmer tomorrow. I have the JTAG pins installed should have all other parts by friday |

You need the regulator and JTAg header, and power to the 5V rail to program the CPLDs. Nothing else. |

I recently built the TF530 for an A2000 that was given to me. I hit a few snags along the way, but it's basically started working. I need to debug a RAM issue (yay, AS7C4096B - AS7C4096A on order) and test the IDE port, but it boots!
Thanks, plasmab for all your hard work! |

Has anybody got a PDF version of the rev 3 schematic they could share?
I want to do some point-to-point testing before power-up. Thanks! |

In general the schematic is useless of point to point testing. I use the board view and highlight the nets I want to test. All the cpld connections are JTAg testable |

Having issues, I got the 530 R3 almost complete. I just need to install c16, c17 and the cpu. was holding off on this until I programed the chips.
After installing the 530 in the cpu socket I find the voltage regulator runs Hot! very hot. I have checked my soldering and replaced the regulator. I turn the power on only for a second and can feel the regulator getting warm so I turn it back off. I am wondering what would cause this? I need to check cap C-1 to make sure I installed the correct one. This is the regulator I am using https://www.ebay.com/itm/5pcs-AMS111...72.m2749.l2649 |

You have a short on the 3.3V rail. That’s the only thing that can do that |

Thanks for the help Plasmab! So far the only think I can find is the 3.3v and GND on the JTAG header has continuity. That don't seem right, but Im no expert either. I checked the CPLD areas under microscope, they seems fine. same with the area around the voltage regulator. but obviously I done something wrong or we wouldn't be having this conversation Thank you |

Remove the passives from the 3.3V rail first.. then the crystal... then keep going until the short is gone. Sorry but thats the deal. |

Thank you! looks like a bad solder joint at the oscillator.

Got the TF530 installed but can't program the chips. xilinx has the green light. if I initialize the chain I have the 2 chips listed both are uninitialized and marked bypass. loading a .jed file I get a error data mismatch and unknown jedec file.
if I do a boundary scan then load the .xsvf then execute it, I get a error did not complete sucessfully. otherwise all other functions work. Erase, blank check, readback ect.. all work. am I missing something? |
