My C64 died-ish today (1989-2012) the sound stopped working and all that remains is a nasty buzzing noise. I did however pick up another one from ebay

Rhino KM133A-ASE AMD K7 board. I've been wanting to put together a late-P3-era games machine for a while now, and I found this board while browsing through Computer Renaissance. (I didn't even know there were still Computer Renaissance stores around, but holy crap, there are - and they actually still deal in older hardware!) It's nice as it supports PC133 and AGP, but also has an ISA slot for my spare AWE32 - which means I can have nice high-quality wavetable MIDI and FM in addition to modern audio.
Now I just need a case and PSU... Also got a proper desoldering iron, finally - should be a lot handier than swapping between a soldering iron and vacuum-pump solder-sucker! |

Hmmm...
In the last couple of months I bought a 1971 Peugeot racing bike for 0 Euro and invested maybe 25 Euro for replacements. Now it's a killer-bike that kills all the modern stuff around.^^ Depends on the driver...^^ Cheers, Rick |

now without the green sticker i know you must think why a crazy guy removed a sticker that could ruin a 30 euros game? because it is how it should be released about 20 years ago or so http://www.ebay.com/itm/110899623538...84.m1497.l2649 |

that is money well spent, well sort of. How did you persuade someone to part with theirs? Have you opened up an A600 before? It isn't totally straightforward and there are some annoying little plastic tabs that break easily if they aren't already, have a search on here for a guide or maybe youtube has a video.

Hi guys thanks for your posts
My A600 is brand new still boxed with all packaging intact. I managed to buy the 630 accelerator complete with motherboard 3.1 rom chip and kipper2k's modified cf adaptor where the card pokes out of the side of you amiga near the pcmcia slot. Admittidely I paid about £250 for the lot but then i could have waited a year to get another one and figured a 4mb sram card will cost me atleast £70 a 3.1 rom another £20 I should be able to sell my motherboard and other cf card for around £50 ????? So I dont think I did too bad. Package is in the post from Finland hope to have it by end of the week. Thanks for the tips on getting the case apart seems a shame to open up a fresh machine but needs must Just bought the gear from a guy who was breaking his maxed out 600 on Amibay Am I allowed to mention them here ?????? |

Nice catch on the ACA630 it's a great card and they'll only get more rare, a couple of years back people were paying up to £400 for an Apollo 630 which is crazy when you think what you can pick up an A600 for or even a pimped out A1200!
Of course you can mention Amibay here! You should be able to get some money back for the Mobo, not as much as you expect but to be honest I'd keep it as a spare, Rev1.5's are the best to use with the ACA and it would be easier to keep it instead of sourcing another should your current A600 die. Enjoy the ACA and have fun with the project! ps. keep us updated! |
