Built the TF534 Rev 2b... 4 layer board. Running perfectly with no decoupling caps added.

A500 got a lot of new accelerators:
HC508 TF530 TF534 Wicher 68030 TK ACA500+ it's time to make A2000 geat again! PS Forgot to report to Chucky - there is indeed a bug in DiagROM v.1.0 just as Stephen said - stumbled on it while tried to debug one of the 68030 TK 4MB cards! Thanks to Keirf for he's Systest, helped me a lot to move further Last edited by 8 Bit Dreams; 12 May 2018 at 23:14. |

Ok im very happy with the new board. Runs at 40Mhz with no decoupling caps and its solid stable. Not one random crash yet.

Silly question from an electronics amateur: You don't need decoupling caps because you have ground plane right?

I've also kept data lines away from the JTAG lines.. sorted many crosstalk issues and a few other bits and pieces. You definitely need the decoupling caps but you shouldnt see repeatable errors without them. Noise related errors are random. A repeatable error means there is a non-random factor. Hi, I just assembled a TF530 using a rev3 board. This is the first time I assembled an SMD project, but for now hopefully I have not made stupid errors.
I have been able to successfully program the CPLDs using a Raspberry PI, no error messages there. When I install the board in an otherwise perfectly working A500 rev 6a board, I am stuck at a black screen. I read on the wiki that I should check bus cpld, resistor networks, clock and cpu. But I have a few questions first: 1) I installed a 25 MHz oscillator: do I need to modify jed files to take this speed into account before programming the CPLDs or can I use those on github as is? 2) if I am able to program the CPLDs, can I safely assume that CPLD and voltage regulator solder points are fine? 3) which are the best points on the board to check clock while it is connected? 4) can I leave the 68882 out when testing or does it need to be inserted? I am waiting to receive a batch of eproms to program myself a diagrom, any other diagnostic suggestions apart from the above that I can try meanwhile? Thanks for any help |

yes you can run w/o fpu. so do that.
and have a look on the LED! does it change brightness.. (this is something I use as a mantra. as everyone seems to skip this IMPORTANT part of amiga troubleshooting) |
