MMU settings are wrong. Just set the complete 20000000 to 40000000 to cache inhibited. Without blank. And 1200 is still unsupported.

OK, I know that A1200 is not supported
I will enlarge the cacheinhibit area, but what am I doing wrong that I have "CacheInhibit Blank" instead of "CacheInhibit"?

Sonnet cards

I have a couple of these - did you get them to work on the 1200 mediator setup?

Which cards? Have you read the thread? It tells you exactly what the status is regarding using any of the cards in a 1200.

The current state is that interrupts like audio give a problem. Elbox made a beta driver for the FM801 audio chip, but my A1200 is out of commission. First the audio card was fried, got it replaced, but now my a1200 no longer boots. Maybe my fast ata died. I have to get a 2.5 to 3.5 ide cable.to test that.

Anyone with a pci ppc card with fm801 and a mediator can test.

I have enlarged the area as you wrote, but I still have "CacheInhibit Blank"
I also tested the sound and both quake and AmigaAMP are playing on the new driver until it hangs, but I have A1200

Blank is normally non existing memory that is diverted to a 4k block of blank memory so you don't get a bus error, I think. You should show your mmu config file.

With new driver I meant the Elbox fm801 driver.

ViNCEd Version 3.91 © 2000-2001 Amiga Inc.

;*************************************************************************
;** MMU Configuration file **
;** **
;** this file is read on startup by the mmu.library and used to modify **
;** the pre-calculated or scanned MMU table **
;** **
;** © 1999-2018 THOR Software, Thomas Richter **
;*************************************************************************

; the current version of the MMU library knows four commands that can
; be used in this file:
; CLEARTTX clears all or parts of the transparent translation registers
; ADDMEM adds memory to the exec free list pool. BE WARNED, this command
; does NOT modify the MMU tables, this must be done manually with
; SETCACHEMODE
; SETCACHEMODE defines the MMU tables.
; DESCRIPTORCACHEINHIBIT defines whether the data cache should be disabled
; for the MMU descriptors. It's usually OFF meaning the cache will remain
; enabled. This is fine for the mmu.library, but certain hacks might require
; an ON argument here. Note that this means more work for the library.

ClearTTx ;ignore all TTX registers if any. We don't need them

;DescriptorCacheInhibit ON ;make access to MMU descriptors cache inhibited

;Board specific setup follows here,
;generated by BuildMMUConfig 1.10 © 29.07.2000 THOR-Software

;General memory setup follows.
;The following lines are a compatibility kludge for some P5 boards
;which enable the MMU prior to the 68040/68060 library and leave
;the memory in CACHEINHIBIT state. You may remove the following
;lines on all other machines most likely.

SetCacheMode from 0x01000000 size 0x04000000 Copyback
SetCacheMode from 0x20000000 size 0x20000000 CacheInhibit
SetCacheMode from 0x00000000 size 0x00200000 CacheInhibit NonSerial Imprecise

;Memory setup end.

;Setup for board 8738/35

;Setup for board 2206/60

;Setup for board 2206/188

;P5 fixes follow here:
;If you do not own a P5 board, you may remove the following lines
;
;Several P5 boards build a private MMU setup on boot
;using a kludge called the BOOT-MMU-Port. To run this
;kludge, the following external command is run from
;LIBS:mmu/ as all other external commands
;
;This command installs also other P5 relevant MMU settings
;Hence, for P5 boards, please keep it in place even if
;you *DO NOT* see the BOOT-MMU-Port.
;
P5Init

Wait, what? You used the new Elbox FM801 driver? And no crashes?

Yes I use new Elbox FM801 driver. On SB128 it did not play at all or creaked, now the sound works, I do not know if it hangs through the sound because without the sound my setup also hangs

It should not hang with -nosound.

Maybe add I/O space to CacheInhibit.

How do you start quake? It is the software rendered one, right? Any environment settings in envarc:sonnet?

I'm using this version: http://aminet.net/package/game/shoot/QuakeWOS

I do not even have such a file: envarc: sonnet

When I add "CacheInhibit I/O space" I have MMU-Configuration failed

Just bought an FM801-AU based card, will have a play when it arrives. I can run quake indefintely with no sound enabled, so this sounds promising!
