Do only the 68060RC50's with the 71E41J mask work in these, or would a 68060R60 with the 71E41J mask work as well, assuming there is such a thing?

I would imagine(?) that a genuine 60MHz 68060 (if exists) would be able to overclock at least to 100/105MHz like the 50MHz versions. In any case, I'm sure Chucky knows the answer to it; hopefully he'll add his knowledge the next time he visits this thread. Would be great if Skipper Smith were available to answer these '060 production/mask questions... IIRC, back in the 90s he was highly sought after when it came to most anything Motorola-related. 68060R60 71E41J will work. Technically they are the same chip, the 71E41J is the 'die' of the chip.
R60's will just be guaranteed to run at 60Mhz. They do exist, i have a Freescale 60Mhz one. |

But can they be overclocked like the 68060RC50 71E41J can be, to 100 or 105Mhz?

I think it depends on the particular chip regardless. After all it's just a guarantee that the chip runs stable slightly faster. I've never had one single 060 that couldn't do 60 MHz, so this is no benchmark for further overclocking (nor is it an indication against it).

I have never seen a rev6 cpu that cannot go 80+ anyway.. in my Warp 1260 I used a freescale from 2008. it however cannot go faster than 95.. so we can smash the myth that freescales clocks better than motorola.. it is simply just depending of the individual unit.

Yeah, while overclocking with existing cards a Rev. 6 060 usually isn't the limiting factor but RAM bus speed is.

My rev6 arrived. Would appreciate any tips on how to safely pull it out. Figured that searching for embedded systems was the best bet find legit cpu. I used this site for reference http://romanworkshop.blutu.pl/cpu68/devx.htm#060 This one is Force Computer CPU-60D, no idea what it used for. |

if it is in a socket? BEST way is to use a PGA puller..
or you can GENTLTY with a screwdriver pull in and from each corner twist and pull up a 1mm at a time. if solderd: desolderingstation |

These boards have a socket. Use one of these pullers:

Bus Speed
Does anyone know how the motherboard bus speed is on this new board?
I know the Blizzard PPC boards are measurably slower than the 030 ACA boards regarding motherboard access. I get about 2MB/s slower IDE access (Elbox) on my BPPC w/060&603e than I do on my ACA 030. My understanding is that the classic Apollo 060 boards don't have the latency issue of the BPPC (I don't have an Apollo to compare to my ACA or BPPC). Curious if these new cards behave more like the straight 68k ACAs and Apollos or more like the hybrid BPPC... |

Seems one went for $175 just a couple of hours ago..
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Force-Com...D/352816283147 Otherwise some sellers have any stupid price between $500 and $1000. Another source for fast 060s are the Motorola MVME172/7 boards, but good luck getting a good deal on those.. |

Rev. 6 CPUs are still out there, but at what price (of course) is the issue... some now asking 550 Euros. Which is beyond ridiculous.
TL;DW summary of video below: A friend of Retrocengo found about ~28 NOS CPUs (later video states all eight are confirmed rev. 6). [ Show youtube player ] Last edited by gdonner; 22 August 2020 at 21:19. |

If anyone reading this speaks Polish, would you be willing to post highlights from the following MP3 interview with CS-Lab?
http://amiwigilia.ppa.pl/podcast/Ami...Odcinek_33.mp3 (from the amigapodcast.com website): http://www.amigapodcast.com/2020/07/...rp5601260.html It's over 2.5 hours long, and apparently some new info was shared about the Warp cards (including the 4060), production, etc. Would be much appreciated, since (as of this writing), nothing new has been posted on the CS-Lab website. |

How does USB work on this card, does it use the Poseidon USB stack?
If not is it possible to read USB memory sticks, and can you also plug in a keyboard? |

Whoops, I didn't notice this was a warp thread, deleted my post above, it was not warp related. :-D
The Warp usb sockets are only for KBD/Mouse emulation as far as I have understood. |

Re: Poseidon; according to this source: "We haven't talked about the license for this stack [Poseidon] with the owner yet; it all depends on the price and the possibility of software connection." Not sure where I found the quote below, but it is from CS-Lab: "At the beginning, we want USB to support mouse/keyboard/mass storage." Last edited by gdonner; 25 August 2020 at 18:40. |
