Goatlizard DX
Hi all
I've finished my slightly updated verison of Moebius Goatlizard. It adds some music and some extra nasties to the game, and fixes the two player game considerably. You can find it at http://blackjet.co.uk/amiga/Goatlizard-DX/ Please note, the game is broken on 010 processors. For best results I recommend an 020+ and a kickstart 2.0x equipped Amiga, but it can be played on a 1MB 68000 1.3 Amiga. Instructions are on the disk in the readme file, but also reproduced here: http://www.blackjet.co.uk/spud/goatdx/readme.txt Hopefully it is a worth a download Cheers! |

Well on 3 of my Amigas i have garbage on screen, left after I've collected stuff. Looks the same on a500, a600, a1200. Looks like a bug to me.

Just got round to trying this and I have the same thing on my A1200, booting from disk. If I turn off the CPU caches it appears less often but still most notably when I collect a powerup.

OK excellent, I'll dig out my A1200 and see if I can work it out. I do have a revised version ready now that may sort it out if you fancy trying though?
Edit: OK reproduced it on my A1200. Should be able to get a fix for it pronto I think. Last edited by spud; 30 July 2014 at 20:17. |

Should be fixed now. v1.1 is available for download now from http://blackjet.co.uk/download.php?d=GoatDXv1.1.adf
Thanks to Meckert and Graham Humphrey for the bug reports and testing. Hopefully there aren't any other major bugs |

I can provide an 010 targetted build but it'll have the protracker modules disabled if you like?

What music player is it, and why shouldn't it work on a 68010?

It is phx's player. I've no idea why it doesn't work on 68010, probably something I've done wrong
I have other issues I'd have to address while I'm at it because that isn't the only problem I discovered late in development with that CPU. |

Are you passing the correct vector base address to it when initializing? The vector base is relocatable on 68010 and up, so the player needs the correct address to set up its interrupts.

@spud:
Just to update you that I downloaded v1.1 and the game works perfectly on my setup. The music playback can also be heard. My setup is as follows: Amiga A500 (PAL rev 6A) * 1MB Chip RAM * 8MB Fast RAM * 68010 processor * Workbench 3.1 (w/ BetterWB 3.6). I was under the impression that music didn't work with 68010 processor but it runs on my setup. Is there any other info you need? How did you conclude that this game didn't playback music on a 68010 processor? |

That's interesting to hear! I don't have an 010 on any of my systems and I was basing it on testing in WinUAE. Just discovered my installed version is about 2 years out of date and upgrading WinUAE to the latest version seems to have fixed the issue!
Would be interested to hear if it actually works then on any other 010 machines. I guess it probably does! Thanks for testing ajack! |
