Cool Shovel Knight

Yet another awesome platformer with NES-styled music, graphics and gameplay:

Haven't tried it yet but I've seen a few reviews and it gets almost perfect scores everywhere, this is truly a gem.

Holy carp that's a must-buy. I mean your weapon is actually a bleeping shovel, that's just hilarious.

Look like it shares some gameplay elements with both Ducktales and Zelda 2.

I was thinking of some elements of Turrican.
Like the wind blowing you up or the big fish....

Really nice to see they still make games like this one.

I've just posted in "What game are you playing" thread. Hadn't noticed this topic until now. Yep, great game that oozes 8-bit nostalgic awesomeness. Seem to be quite a few of these popping up. What's more - my kids like it too! Gives them a break from super hi-res graphics & octa surround sound games that require you to have Twister experience to play games with 30+ button combinations. Then again, my kids put me to shame with aforementioned; takes me ages to pick up and master xbox360 controls these days heh heh.

If they love Shovel Knight, see if they also like Fez. Get them using those brains a little.

It does look fantastic. I'm just waiting for the price to come down a little then I'll buy it.

Here's another Steam 8-bit platformer that I saw AVGN play a few episodes back.

Send a message via MSN to voyager
James also told that they put every irritating bit of gameplay in that one game :-)
