Jens, sorry for being a bit silly in asking this but...
Considering we're in 2013 (and 2014 is near) and CFs are getting harder to find by the day, wouldn't have been more future-proof to equip the ACA500 with two SD slots, instead of CF? I know that CF is ATA compliant, but there are a lot of SD-to-IDE converters around, and they seem to work pretty well even if SD isn't ATA compliant natively. |

That's surprisingly fast compared to my a1200+aca1220, I'm only getting 1,481,039 with a sandisk 30mb/s 4gb cf card.

ShK very interesting info, and impressive speed . Ebay linky for the "Extreme CF Adapter"?
Edit: This? http://www.ebay.es/itm/Extreme-Compa...2d7940a&_uhb=1 Edit 2: And I'm awaiting -long time- the right time to ask for a "new product for Amiga from Individual Computers": a new Idefix card with more or less 10MB/s speed. Last edited by Retrofan; 30 August 2013 at 04:25. |

Thanks
Edit: Well, I guess this better (10,79€ against 30€): http://www.ebay.es/itm/MicroSD-to-CF...73e35a6&_uhb=1 Edit: And this for the card (11€ against 22€) : http://www.ebay.es/itm/8GB-SanDisk-E...ed7dc75&_uhb=1 So... 22€ to have 8Gb (perfect) and 3,276,800 bytes/secs (like PIO II or something with a Fast ATA). It was just an example. I recall that my adapter cost a little more than 10€ in the this spring.

Note that you will also need a high-speed SD card for the writing.

A small off-topic, but the cf HDD kit adaptor is little bit faster than IDE 44pin > SD Card adaptor with the same SD-card.

Don't worry. I've just bought both items of my last post. I will use them with my slowest A1200 miggy with an ACA1231/42.
Edit: Which one did you use? Last edited by Retrofan; 30 August 2013 at 05:11. |

I'm not sure what you're asking, but my compo is A1200 + ACA-1231/42 + HDD kit adaptor + Compact Flash Adapter + SANDISK SD CLASS 10 + PFS3 All-in-One.

I'm not sure where the line goes, but class 4 card's speed is not sufficient.

The "which card and which adapter" topic is off-topic here - please move that to a different thread, thank you (apart from plain wrong things that I've read, like "one CF->IDE adapter is faster than the other).
New standoff idea that also holds CF cards in place - currently trying to find a company that will make this at an affordable price. Jens |
