Nice score Graham, and nice little game btw Which is level 10? The one with red platforms? There comes a point where you forget the fruit and just concentrate on survival. As for memorizing the levels, I'm not there yet.. maybe after another 50 attempts and a few less beers Last edited by vagrant; 26 August 2013 at 10:18. |

Thanks
Bad news for you, the red platforms are only level eight It is hard to keep track of though as there isn't a level counter (there wasn't really room for one). The best way to know what level it is is the number of points the pickups give you (100 points multiplied by the level number), if you get time to check. You really need the objects to fall for you kindly on the later levels as otherwise they'll just appear on a part of the screen it is completely impossible to reach. I had lots go totally against me last night, without that I'd have easily cracked the 60k mark. Bloody programmers |

That can be a good thing. I had a few runs yesterday ruined because the slow move (snail?) icon appeared right infront of a gap I had to go through on some of the later levels only to end up dead because I was moving too slowly!

Yes, that is very much the other side of it. I think everybody has suffered that fate at some point but at least you get a decent amount of points as consolation if you pick one up. (Ironically, the reason Simon's score got beaten was because he actually avoided picking one up but died anyway. If he picked up the snail, he would have had enough points to keep him top of the standings.)

For the first time during this round I made it to level 10, but that is as far as I got.

Given the discussion @ Lemon today, I thought this screenie might be of interest for the DF team.
Anyway, I'm not very good at piloting this thing, to say the least 37.667 Last edited by shotgunfacelift; 27 May 2013 at 11:19. |

Practice is the key here. Some of the levels (especially levels 7 to 10) can be really evil in design, requiring you to literally leap off the platform you are on just before being killed so that you stand a good chance of making it to the next platform, which isn't even on the screen yet! |

Landed into the middle of it as I thought I was gonna die going thru it, but I landed like that off screen. The left side is actually the side of the screen so I moved right. He looked like he was climbing some stairs for a couple of steps then got on top of that platform. Quote:

I have come so close to beating level 10 a few times today, but having just one life makes it much more challenging |

After many hours of playing over the weekend I have finally looped it!
A silly mistake cost me my life on level 18. I should have been able to score another 10K or so, but I am very happy right now 103,588 |

Wow! Well done on looping the game and getting far into it a second time. That is some score and truly sets the standard for this round. Excellent stuff.

Well, not exactly like that necessarily. For example my score is without memorizing a thing on it I haven't played that much to remember levels yet, but it's more like anticipating, tactic and relfexes
Ouch I knew somebody would do that, but still hoped that it wouldn't be the case Congratulations anyway |

Finally, this is the result of my first session with the Downfall game and there are still five days to go with everything to play for!
Actually, this is my first session with any game in the competition forum after four and a half years! I like this game very much. It keeps nagging at you to give it one more try until you just run out of time. I didn't play any better when I got my high score, but the fruit just seemed to keep popping up right ahead of me! I'll be back playing this tomorrow for sure! 17,673 |
