Winuae bug

Toni,

please take a look at this video. There is a bug where the pointer becomes trapped in the top half of the screen.

This is on the latest public release, but also seems to do it on the latest beta.

I will save logs when I get it to repeat. In the mean time what do you need?

Do you have mouse driver checkbox ticked in gameports panel? If yes, does it happen if you untick it?

No it isn't ticked.

I will keep trying to get it to repeat the bug so I can get a log to you.

Log is not complete. Did you cut beginning part of the log? Or did you load new configuration on the fly? Never do that when logging

"Illegal kickmem bput" is most likely caused by some buggy program and nothing to do with mouse issue.

EDIT: attach also your config file.

Perhaps you have some ancient uae utilities in startup-sequence or wbstartup?

Does it happen when using same config but booting from non-modified WB disk?

Startup sequence is basic os3.9 or 3.1. Mui, and basic stuff like assigns.

It doesn't always start straight away, but once it does just a restart fixes it most of the time. Oddly it occurred earlier and I was confined to a small rectangular area approximately half way down the screen. I couldn't move in any direction.

I've also recently had this problem - and I believe it started with upgrading to 2.4.1 from whatever version I used before that.

My workflow stays the same with different versions of WinUAE - same Workbench configuration for years since I set it up. 3.5 boots up on HD disk image, then I start resource in the foreground and maybe have something like AsmPro or DiskMaster in the background which I occasionally switch to.

Any time I moved the mouse outside a certain square region covering most of the screen, it would snap it back. I could fight against it and sometimes make it to the gadget outside of that region, but it was painful and frustrating. This would happen when I was trying to hit the "to back" gadget on the right of the screen titlebar of resource or diskmaster.

Toni,

Please find a new logfile attached. This time it took quite a while for the bug to appear, but alas it did.

On this occasion if I entered a small box on the top left I was trapped there. When I was able to get out everything was fine until i entered this box.

Another possibility: GamePorts panel "Windows mouse" only?

Okay that beta completely freezes the emulation when I compile my blitz game. This works in 2.4.1

Better question is: does latest official 2.5 betas work? If not, which was last working version.

Does the mouse work? Longer replies are allowed here

EDIT: does today's winuae.zip work? (above log is also quite useless truncated log)

Tony after a few hours I have managed to get the latest beta to reproduce the mouse bug. I have not recorded the log.. Would it be worth doing part-way through emulation?

And once the bug starts it continues even if the resolution is changed to a standard resolution

Redownload winuae.zip (url above) and test again. It really should be fixed now. (Windows mouse hidden clipping region was not updated when WinUAE window size changed..)

Log is not that useful because I removed extra clipping logging because I thought it was already fixed (no reply in few days after my last post)

Logging is back: http://www.winuae.net/files/b/winuae.zip

btw, can you duplicate it instantly if you use very small native window (for example 640x400 or smaller) and use large RTG mode (at least twice the size of native)? Set mode sizes, restart winuae and boot normally to RTG WB and check mouse.

Toni,

Sorry I had not seen your response. I will check this Sunday/Monday as I am busy working for the next couple of days

When you say Native do you mean native PC or Amiga screen/window size?

Native = chipset mode screen. Configured using Display panel window size selection.

Okay.

I have recently noticed that it becomes more prevalent when using laced displays.
