I suppose you mean "Forest Dumb Forever!!!" and "Forest Dump Forever".

I would correct this, but it is possible that the person who added this as an alternate title read that name in a preview/early release...

So let's wait a week and then I'll modify the entry accordingly if no answer is posted (and anyway it will be easy to revert back).

Probably because there is already an artist called Tomasz Liebich (probably the same).
I guess we will have to correct each game entry and then delete the Tomek artist entry.

A little bit more helpful feedback would be nice, but at least I know the reason now. It was the only game with a credit for 'Tomek' Liebich, so I've updated the entry and we'll never talk about it again

I believe that you tried to update the entry for Tomek L. to Tomasz L.
However, there already existed a Tomasz L.

So I guess (really just a guess) that the database gave you an error because it detected two artist entries with identical content.

The case you outlined is so far correct

If you try to change 'Doug Smith' to 'Gene Smith' (which already exists) you get:

Query failed
UPDATE data_artist SET S_artist='Gene Smith', D_birth=NULL, D_death=NULL, S_www='', S_private_addresses='', S_email='', N_ref_mothercountry='0', S_notes='', S_private_notes='' WHERE N_id_artist=1266

I bet your first guess would have been 'Ah, duplicate name, of course'
(it's really not visible why the query fails, because you can't see the 'UNIQUE Constraint' for S_artist... if you know what I mean )

Yeah, I don't really know why but duplicate/similar entry would have been my first guess (zerond guess would have been illegal character which can happen with some Polish names ).

I guess we can add some notes to the artist entry such as:
"also known as Tomek Liebich. Tomek is actually the name variant for Tomasz used in Poland until an individual is adult"

Not sure what the conditions of the name changes are though.

Very strange.

I have the same issue as you if I check it as a simple HOL user.
However, if I login as a supercontributor I can zoom in.

I am afraid I can't do anything. Perhaps some core team members will know better.
