Colorado trainer?
Hello all,
I'm looking to complete this game. Gameplay seems interesting, but could never get past a certain point and it was 'one-time' only gameplay! I'm curious to know if there is a Trainer or any 'cheats' so I can get energy back or anything? Failing that I will have to use save state feature - but can't do this on the real Amiga! ![]() Thanks in advance, Lesta |

It was never released a trainer for this game.

I wrote a Colorado walkthough and guide for issue 4 of Amiga Point of View magazine:
http://apov.abime.net/issue4.php It has maps and controls so it might be helpful. I'd advise using the WHDLoad version as Bamiga2002 suggests because some of the ADF versions fail beyond a certain point. |

You could use an action replay (or other favourite type of device) and give yourself a hand.

Might have to consider WHDload version - except I have no idea how to set it up lol. I've just used 'pre-made' hdf files in past. Thanks for walkthrough Cody! Decidal - does Action Reply provide any additional features?

Thanks for update - I've tried to get my head around this, but it doesn't seem to be working. Anyone know/had success with this game and AR3?

Also check out pages 30-32 in that manual. AR has a built-in trainer which searches for where in memory the byte containing your number of remaining lives is located. I haven't used the AR in more than 15 years, but I remember that it used to work great with many games.
If the TFD command doesn't work, you can also just give yourself more lives by overwriting the value at the found address using the 'M' command. If the normal trainer does not work, the deep trainer will be the next thing to try out. Look further down in the manual for it. Ok, I just tried the game and can see that it doesn't have lives and I can't seem to get the AR to find the memory location of the energy bar, so the easiest thing would probably be to use the SA and LA commands to save and load a memory image to either a ram disk or a floppy (empty ADF). I'm going to have a look at this and see if I find anything.
Edit: Right, I've just had a look at the first section of the game, and I've found where the energy counter is. It's located at $30BCE, and the maximum value for the energy counter is '0064'. All you need to do to top up your energy to maximum energy, is go into your Action Replay, type 'M 30BCF' and change the first two numbers to '64'. Once you enter back into the game you should have full energy. Whether this is the location for the energy counter throughout the game, I don't know, but it works for this particular part, so give it a try and see if it works ![]() Last edited by Sektor 83; 01 October 2012 at 00:18. |

I've tried the command you said - it didn't work on the very first part where you start the game :-s This is what I did PgUP (bring up the AR3 screen. Then type M 30BCF. It displays lots of hex codes, here I changed the first set to 64 and then pressed ENTER and ESC (to come out of 'M' mode) and then 'X' to go back into game... Am I doing something wrong? |

The health memory address location might change depending on the version of the game. At least, it did for me when I did it a while back.

I'm using "Colorado (1990)(Silmarils)[cr KTS]" version of the game... Sektor can you please find health bar on that - I'm hopeless with this sort of thing as you can tell!

I think it is honorable, that you credit "Sektor83" even in the beta. ![]()

I ended up using the WinUAE debugger for this one... started a deep trainer, and every time I lost a bit of energy, jumped back into the debugger and gradually whittled down the decrementing addresses that way. There's two addresses that seem to reference the energy: one is the energy itself, and the other seems to be the 'display' for the energy (one being copied into the other to ensure that the display matches the actual energy level). I think there's also addresses which hold the energy levels of enemies, too. I then further narrowed down which one it was by writing 0 into the address to see if I'd 'die', and through that discovered that $30BCE-30BCF was the one While I never use the WinUAE debugger during my cracking attempts (in a way I kinda find it 'cheating'), I don't have a problem using it for trainers if I can't get a result from the Action Replay. I find the debugger's trainer mode far outweighs that of the Action Replay, and I wanted to get a solution to lesta_smsc as quickly as I could! ![]() Edit: Just tried the 2nd test, it loads in the river section this time around and the trainer seems to work but the music on the title screen seems to have vanished! Indeed, this was a very pleasant surprise, and many many thanks to musashi9 for his attempts to implement this into a permanent version... I *urge* him to credit himself for this in the final version, because it feels wrong to have only my name there when he's done the rest of the work! I'm hoping one day to learn all about trainer menus and how to patch trainers in permanently... it's another thing that's on my list of 'things to learn'! ![]() Last edited by Sektor 83; 04 October 2012 at 18:45. |

Thank musashi9 and Sektor83!!!
The Trainer works perfectly... this is the beauty of the forum, we now officially have a Trainer for a game which there was never one before!I like the use of Flashtro! For a moment, I thought it might glitch when you fall into the water as energy bar might stay full, but it reverts to 0 so you can 'die'! BTW - do you think anything can be done regarding ammunition as I can't seem to use the gun in the beginning?! Also, which version of the game is this as I note a comment about the version I have being the only 100% working version? ![]() |

I've no idea which version of the game musashi9 is working from... I think he's working from the original .ipf, in which case the in-game protection is going to have to be something to watch out for(!). I found the energy value in the SCX crack of the (en-de) version of the game which musashi9 referenced above.
I don't know if it would be worth re-cracking from the .ipf in order to train it, or if this version of the game *is* 100%, trying to find the energy value in this version (which is obviously different from what I can glean from the comments above) and applying the trainer to this version(?) |

. The energy location was the first difficult part, then finding the code that changed the value was not so easy either.I fixed the title song problem, and I think I may have found the ammunition location. Any one know which is the true 100% version so I can use that for the trainer?
