Easy quick uninstall of BZR player, go to the folder you have the old version installed, delete everything and reinstall in the same folder the new version of BZR player. I do this for each new version of BZR player and have no problems with it. I have Vista Home Basic as OS.

@ma693541 Exactly. Either that, or unpack and overwrite all files, that way you keep your old settings.
@1time Well, the first one is M.O.N. and not supported. The second file is Ben Daglish and not supported either. So nothing strange about that. med (Octamed) is supported though and should at least not crash. So where did you find Crusade_Intro.med? Does it always crash when loading that file?

Tried deleting the folder with version 0.88 and unzipping back again but makes no difference. It was a fresh install anyway, but worth a try. Logfile attached.
Fmod error loading the mp3 as well as the standard protracker module. Must mention, mp3 plays fine, not the mod. |

The "FMOD error! (37) An invalid parameter was passed to this function." is actually not really an error and has nothing to do with your problem, I know what it is and I get that too.
I need more details. Does drag'n'drop the file works? Does mp3 work? Does it crash? When does it crash?

As far as I can tell, I can drag'n'drop files/folder, add files, add dirs as long as they are mp3.
If you drag'n'drop files/folder, add files, add dirs and its a tracked module in any format, as soon as you hit play, it crashes.... How weird, while writing this reply, I can now drag'n'drop mods on the player, all formats. It seems that the player has some problems loading some protracker mods. Some of the protracker mods play fine in MPP, XMPlay, DP and Milkytracker but cause BZR to crash. Cartouchka by Moby is one such mod. I just downloaded this mod again from AMP to check my module wasn't different, it isn't and both crash the player. I also managed to dragn'n'drop a number of other modules by sheer blind luck that also crash the player. Is there some integrity check on modules to see if its actually a playable format or something? |

Hi Blazer.
I have tried about 10 mod and 10 med files that works perfect in my Amiga. Everytime its says "[Soundmanager]Trying to load file:" and then it shutsdowm. |

@Axxman I downloaded ortouchka from AMP and played it several times on two computers with no problems at all. So I don't think that particular mod is a problem. Yes, there are checks for all fileformats , however mod-files are the most complicated files to check since there are a lot of different versions and often it's almost impossible to see what version. I know that my checks are not perfect, some mods get rejected, however they should never crash the player. To narrow it down, can you for example play a bunch of .sid-files without any crashes?
@1time You can't play any mod files? Or is it just those 10 that shuts down the program? Can you send those particular mods to me if that's the case? And may I remind you once again to be 100% that you don't have any .dll-files from an old version of bzrplayer, since that will give strange issues sort of the ones you have....

I don't really understand what is going on with the player. As far as I can tell, it plays mp3, it, xm, s3m, mtm, mdl, sid, bp, dmf, dbm and a few other formats fine.
It just seems hit and miss when it comes to mods. I've narrowed down that BZR doesn't handle 6, 8 and 12 channel modules at all. These look like protracker, but probably aren't, even though it seems that BZR detects these as Protracker compatible when it tries to play them and crashes. Other replayers detect and play these mods as protracker. I've noticed that what looks like 4 channel protracker mods are sometimes being played as Fasttracker mods. Thats what it says in the display info in bzr. When trying BZR today, all mods regardless of format crashed the player. Once I have drag 'n' dropped one playable mod onto the player, it starts to behave itself, until it comes across those mods it doesn't like. Cartouchka.mod by Moby now plays fine, whereas yesterday it didn't, and still continued to crash BRZ today, and then just suddenly started playing ok. It plays .far as Screamtracker mods, it's supposed to I presume? Is there a way to play Impulse Tracker modules with all the channels on? It certainly doesn't sound like 200+ channel .it mods are working as they should. Apart from that, plays most files you throw at it and a great little player... |

@1time How about Deltamusic? Future Composer? MP3?
@Axxman It can play .xm and some other PC trackers that have a maximum of 32 channels. Protracker have only 4 channels. As I wrote earlier it may be impossible to see what program made the .mod. Are you 100% that mod wasn't made in Fasttracker (1) for example? I dont think that it's the music files that is the problem, I've played thousands of mods without any crash. I think the problem lies elsewhere. So, have you tried downloading the BZRPlayer088.zip again, unpacking it to a new empty folder and try it?

I have tried unpacking the player to a different folder but had the same issues.
As for some of the modules crashing. It's hard to identify what they were wrote in. Modplug treats them as Protracker mods, XMPlay uses the Generic Module (M.K.) or Generic Module (6/8CHN). Prowiz says its a 8CHN Pro/Star/Whatever is found at 0 lol.... but they all play fine in these players. Trying to save them out in Milkytracker does throw up an incompatible pattern data before saving. Looking at the 4 reasons it mentions, probably notes other than between C-3 to B-5 as the patterns aren't heavy on effects and they are 64 lines long, but Milkytracker notices that you can't just save them as protracker. |

Thanks. I can confirm that neither of the mods are recognized. As I said the mod recognition is a bit picky, since that's better than loading a mod and crash. So this could of course be improved. However this is nothing new and the program works as intended. It doesn't crash.

Is there a feature list for this somewhere?
Does it support AY and YM formats? That would be good as there is no compliant player on Amiga, Lombardo's PlayOgg port is broken (can't handle non-interleaved files).

Yes, there's a feature list on http://bzplayer.blazer.nu
And it plays AY and YM. Don't know nothing about non-interleaved files though.

NAV just popped and deleted the brzplayer.exe. SONAR says it doing something suspicious on this computer and removed it..
Probably a false/positive (i hope) but just so you know. |

@spannernick No porting to Amiga of so many reasons I don't know where to start...
@Axxman Did you get the same warning for the previous version? Since I compiled it myself I'm pretty sure that it doesn't do anything suspicious. (Does it say something more than "suspicious"?)

Yeah, probably a pattern in the program that's close to a virus pattern. Hopefully it disappears in the next version

Ooh, didn't notice a new version... I'm trying version 0.91 now...
You'll be pleased to know that NAV does nothing to your player this time! ![]() I am now on a new machine now, Win7 (64bit), only had it a week so far... BUT..... The same problem exists on this machine as my previous one (vista 32bit). I try to add a module from File/Folder using option (right click) in player, results in the player crashing, every time, regardless of what type of module it is. Only time it doesn't is when I add a mp3 first, same method, I can then add modules until my hearts content. Once I close brzplayer, the same thing will happen again, next time I open the player and add a module. I can drag 'n' drop a module onto my desktop icon and the player plays the module no problem and subsequent modules added thereafter. Once the player can play a module, it behaves as it should, until I close and restart the player again. This behaviour only applies when the first file I try to play from Add File is a module, every time on my old machine and now this one. Also, the Pattern View doesn't work, just shows a black background in the window. Got an Nvidia GTX560Ti and running a resolution of 1900x1080 if that helps. Logfiles attached... |

I know what would be cool to see. An M1 style codec that can play Arcade music from the sound data roms and all the EaglePlayer Wanted Team and Deliplayer codecs converted into the versions needed to play the tunes in this player.
M1 Source: http://www.bannister.org/software/m1.htm Deliplayer: "Codecs to convert to BZR format to have a near full working collection of BZR exotic AMIGA codecs are in players and AMIGAPlayers folders": http://www.exotica.org.uk/wiki/DeliPlayer Wanted Team "These are mostly exotic AMIGA codecs not used in Deli already as standard these are extra Deli and Eagle codecs": http://wt.exotica.org.uk/players.html Hope those help you in your quest to be the top dog of VGM players. To be the top dog you need to know what other formats are still out there so you can capitalize and improve the player to the highest up to date quality you can. These Arcade ones and other exotic AMIGA ones are just getting started in the world of other VGM formats but the player is doing great so far keep up the good work I'm definitely going to give this a download when I get the time. In fact the read up I see so far looks the best I've seen but the Eagleplayer and M1 to BZR codec conversions I would love to see one day do make it bigger and badder than the dogs bollocks it already looks like so far. It already looks by far the best player ever for Video Game Music so playing Arcade and Exotic Deli/Eagle AMIGA's imagine what that would do it would be draw dropping if I see those added in a future update into a BZR version. Do yo uuse Droidsound? At one point I was going to help the dev with the UI. Didn't seem to me like it was crappy (except for the UI), it was pretty similar to Modizer on iOS.

No I don't use droidsound, I was using something else but it was constantly dropping out and skipping, so I binned it.
Will give that a go though, thanks Akira ![]() EDIT: Works like a charm, now it's really Xmas ![]() Last edited by DH; 28 December 2012 at 18:54. |
