Exchanging files between 2 Amigas

Sorry for a bit of a newbie title.

I have 2 A1200 (my orginal one and now a new one) that I want to link up.

I have a serial null and a pc-amiga parallel cable.

Is the parnet cable the same as the one used to connect an Amiga to a PC via parallel? If not, then thats where I have been going wrong.

I have tried Pronet between both Amiga's on parallel and serial and expect a drive to appear? Is that incorrect?

Can you still download Parent with an installer from anyway? Aminet seems to jsut have a *.device

What is the easist way to exchange files between the 2 Amiga's? It would be nice if it was via Parallel as the Serial is connect to a PC to do the Internet.

Thanks for the link, that will help with the PC transfer however I forgot to say 1 Amiga is in a case and I dont own a PCMCIA angle plate and the other Amiga has an overdrive.

So no access to either PCMCIA

I suppose if the software is supposed to show up as a drive, you have to mount it first.
Is this the software you are referring to?
http://aminet.net/package/comm/net/ProNET34
The docs says you have to start the server in one of the machines and then start the client in the other and specify which drives you want to have mounted locally.

Quote:
pronet-start LOCALNAME/A,REMOTENAME/A,UNIT/N,FLAGS/N,UNIQUE/S

LOCALNAME is the name of the Device to create while REMOTENAME is the one you want to import from a remote Amiga. It is important not to give a volume name (e.g. `Work') here but the device name (such as `hd0')! Please also note that you must not append a `:' to the Device names!
That Amigakit 'solution' will not work for what you want to do either.

try ParBench from Aminet: http://aminet.net/package/comm/net/ParBENCH31
easier to setup/install and well documented.

about the correct cable: one was using a pc-only parallel cable ( for pc-anywhere ) for a pc <-> amiga connection.
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=3211

but amikit sells Parnet-Cable and PC TO AMIGA PARALLEL LINK CABLE
maybe it is only about the male/female kind of connectors. so I'm not sure.

Thanks for this, both installed brilliantly, I am guessing by the lack of connection that the Parnet cable is different to the Amiga to PC cable?

Can anyone comfirm this.

there is another networking utility: LinkIt!, supporting serial ( default) and parallel connections between 2 amiga.
look into the zone ( INT-LINK.DMS ).
install on both machines (click "ok" when asked for serial-number).
change menu "configuration" to "parallel" and click on left-side of the tool, to "try a connection".

and *bump* the thread; someone must know about the pc/amiga parallel-port differences.

How do I get access to the zone?

So I fired up LinkIt and was like this rocks so hard. But after a few files it just stops
One is a A1200 020 6mb
One is a A1200 030 18mb

I was running the 56760 rate, I might drop it to 9600 just to see if it can be stable.

This will date me, but is DNet still around?

http://amiga-fish.erkan.se/amiga-fis...-content-DNet/

I remember using it with a parallel cable to network my Amiga 500 to my NeXTcube (and the Internet) in college back in the day.
