Cinemaware are back (again) :)

I couldn't find this anywhere here (did a search on Cinemaware as a single word) but I would like to bring it to your attention.

They are trying to kickstart development of a HD re-imagining of Wings for PC/iOS devices and Android.

I thought some people may be interested....plus to be honest I was getting sort of fed up with all the stupid comments they're getting on A.ORG like "woah! no Amiga OS4 version then?" pffft. We here are much more sensible here and at least the thread won't descend into a Classic/OS4/MOS piss'n contest right?

Anyway the woman in the videos is really pretty and has nice ample sized bosoms...just like all the Cinemaware games and artwork so worth posting about just for that no?

Seems more worthy than the Ouya (and we saw where that went). Hopefully they get enough funding to do this.

What? No AmigaOS4 port????

:-) Kidding.....

Seriously, I'm all for almost any new (well, in the timing sense) adventure games.
Hopefully this does well (and they do it well) and they can move on to some new content as well...

I just hope they don't measure based on the current "game success" market.
One of the things I'm hoping will come out of this Kickstarter game trend is that I hope we start to see successful and smaller markets..

Games were very successful when they sold just 100,000 copies or so back in the day.
There's no reason that shouldn't be feasible today...

I don't expect adventure games to sell like CoD, but I'm sure there's a market...

I am a bit skeptical, as this Cinemaware is not the original Cinemaware and the game should be developed by 3rd party. I am not sure if I am interested enough.

Here's an interesting quote from the comments section of the Kickstarter.

So, some of the "new" stuff might be old stuff that didn't make it...

Sounds more and more interesting....

Understood there.
I'd much prefer a Linux version too...

Just economics at that point. Many kickstarters have gone for Mac/Linux with the "stretch" goals, so you never know....
I'll be watching to see how they progress..

Yeh I thought that. I hope they get it but it does seem a lot - I would be happy to play the original under emulation on iOs like Defender of the Crown.
Saying that for that price I hope they sort controls out for touch devices or I'll be grabbing the pc version.
They need to get moving with some advertising/pr

Good news, they are listening.

When you think about it, it's not bad. Those have been "stretch goals" on some of the other retro kickstarters. Give us an extra $50,000 or $100,000 and we'll do Linux or OSX. But this is included in the basic package for this.
So far, so good.

I was going to create a thread specifically for this title, but you beat me to it . I know alot of old-school amiga users probably have played this game back in the day. So far they are having some success with their funding effort, but i am a bit worried that this project might not be fully funded in the next 28 days. If you can, please donate to this kickstarter.

Today they announced that they are working on not only a PC version, but also a Mac and Linux and iOS versions. I am not associated with this project, I'm just an old-school fan of Cinemaware that would like to see good classic games get realeased rather than the (mostly) crappy ones that come out today. I currently emulate the amiga on my PC. Thanks for reading my wall of text and your time.

I told them but they said they had delt with it. Obviously not.

Until then, I wont be pledging.

Didn't have any issues with payment at all (of course there's no actual payment yet). Everything is handled from the Kickstarter page and payment details are completed through Amazon, as DDNI said.

Maybe not - it's slow for a big name reboot; it's only banked 32grand so far. I had hoped for more...

I agree, I think this campaign is doomed. Maybe the (funding) fairy will save this kickstarter. Damn shame.

They should have 'aimed lower', I think 100,000 - 150,000 would have been a far more conservative.

So, they will hand over the sources to an interested developer team which they will try to port this game to AmigaOS 68k and/or AmigaOS 4.1+? Sounds interesting.

It feels like they are relying on word of mouth and virals to market this for them. Not sure it's going to work for them, they need to spend on their own pr and marketing
