Game & Watch : AmigaParachute

I like all those good old retro LCD games.

So I have decided to code this one : Parachute.
This single screen game is one of my favorite (except Donkey Kong Junior) because when a Parachute goes into the tree, you don't really know when it's going to fall

I did 95% of the code and the logic is similar to the original game.

Soon on your Amiga

I've moved this thread into the Amiga Scene forum, because it's not newsworthy until its released IMHO.

Feel free to announce its release in the News forum when that time comes.

Jojojojo. Great! I love it! I've got it and... it isn't cheap as you know.

Great ... and no idea how can you make it.

When you'll make it I will put the icon to launch it in my Workbench screen.

BTW today finally I'm running TL with a shit of ramboard and it runs great.

Cool, totally love it.

Btw, C64 got its own retro lcd handheld port some months ago.

I wish MADrigal would do a simulator of Gakken pinball as that was the very first game ever I got (1980-81).

New Hardware for the Amiga is always newsworthy. And it requires maximum exposure to gauge interest. Without that it is impossible to set prices.

Yes, that's absolutely true. It's difficult to have new hardware, and money enters in the way. Sorry Gibs, you won't earn a "chavo" (old coin) with it, as you already know (and as you don't expect).

Edit: Yes, politically incorrect, but I agree with Prowler.

Great! Fabulous. Working and with the best screen (I mean it's like playing the Game&Watch) that I could imagine, it coudn't be better. It seems like MAME, not a new game but exactly the same... yes, I know that you've done a lot more watching the video.

So just some minor things to finish it, right?

BUT... do you know that after this there are some others games of the same style to be made, don't you?

I also have ordered to mini classic

@s2325
There are some mistakes in the Atari XL version.
-No Parachute go in the tree.
-The Shark doesn't show his face (except when the player die)
-The screen doesn't update like the original, when there are 1 parachute in 2 or 3 different range, the update is done at the same time. You can hear clearly with the sounds that it's not a G&W, there is only 1 sound. Doesn't sound G&W

I also plan to do a colored version with a beautiful copper and funny sounds when the parachute go in the tree etc

I got the Gameboy version of that game and others in "Game and Watch Gallery 2". They have the original LCD and enhanced versions in it. I also have the "Game and Watch Gallery" with other 4 games.
The first LCD game I got was the "Octopus" which you had to get the treasure from underneath him back to the boat.
When your game is finished I definitely will try it.

Wonderful!

The sound is spot on

Would you consider adding dummy left/right and game buttons to the faceplate?

Can I presume that you could use the same code for versions of Fire and Chef?

Many thanks

That even runs on CD32 (some "tuning" and Keyboard required). There are some more nice LCD-remakes and I've put them onto my "Another CD32 compilation".

An CD-image of it is on the ftp.

Yes

Parachute : 4 positions and on the 4th, there is no mystery: the parachute is always going in the tree and release illico.

Check ElectronicGame.lha on Aminet.

How I can make it ? I don't understand the question. I used Amos Pro and I try to simulate the game the best I can.

Yes but I think I would do an advanced version of parachute for the Amiga.

As you can see there is not enough space on the screen to do it and reducing the gfx would reduce de details. it would need a 640x400 screen

Can you record a video of you playing in "Game B" and going as far as you can ?
It's to set the difficulty. I have the mini classic, but I don't think it's the same.

Eeer...Gibs how many points (a second more or less each one) do you need for a video?

Edit: And there are two options: Or you watch it right and I play bad (watch bad) or you see it bad and I play right.

Hey it was the camera that stopped I guess I would have done 999 points .
Anyway it taked about an hour to upload.

I woudn't put a menu, you just have to press Game A or Game B and that's all I think.

Edit: Well, perhaps you could draw the buttons and add a Clock, so it would be necessary a menu. You also could make it to run a demo or perhaps an option to leave it small in a corner making the demo and or showing the hour.

Hmm
I can't draw the buttons, there is not enough space as I said. and if I stretch the screen it's going to reduce the details of the sprites.

I think about the AmigaParachuteAdv: 640x400 8 colors (for ECS) and full screen !
