Updateted to icon.library 46.4.252
The icon files are now always read completely into memory first before the decoding starts out of the buffer. This saves a lot of small and slow read() and seek() calls. |

I'm using your latest version with my Amikit conversion for real miggy (Dopus Magellan), just using an ACA and 16 colors (I still have to improve it).
It works fine: ![]() But I've got a problem with SGrab. I only can use ILBM or PNG. I can't use jpeg, as I've got an error: Task: 0x086CDB58 Error: 0x8000000B "DEADEND" by System... Cause: Line 1111 Emulator Error And with jpeg the result is better, as you can smooth it with SGrab, but not with the others (it looks better in real). I don't know if you can help me. I've tried a couple of jpeg libraries. BTW Thanks for this wonderful icon.library ![]()

Thanks a lot for testing !
@Retrofan Quote:
Edited: "Line 1111 Emulator Error" means that an 68881+ FPU is required !! Please use the 68000 version of the png.datatype 44.6 from Gunther Nikl if you don't have an FPU, because all higher versions of the png.datatype will need an FPU as it is mentioned in the documentation. For the same reason, make sure that all the original AmigaOS mathlibs are installed on your system if you don't have an FPU. SGrab uses the mathieeedoubbas.library for example. If you know how to use it then please try to run SegTracker, VBRControl, Sashimi and Enforcer in order to track the bug down. I've tried to reproduce this bug with AmiKit on WinUAE, but nothing went wrong here ??? Btw, your screenshot is amazing, looks perfectly for a 16 color configuration !! ![]() Last edited by PeterK; 11 August 2012 at 05:34. |

Thanks a lot. No, it goes worse changing to Gunther's datatypes (PNGdt44), showing some messages about images that can't be shown now.
Mathieeedoubbas and others are installed in libs. The backdrop isn't png (too much memory needed), but iff, but some icons are png. I will try with other png libraries. Thanks.

So, which PNG datatype are you using now?
And, are all the mathlibs from the AmigaOS, not my MathLibsUAE from AmiKit? |

I've tried a couple, right now the WarpPNGdt. I can try vPNGdt too. The thing is that Warp works, in the sense that I don't get the messages of problems with images. Anyway, if I use the jpeg file to record in SGrab, it hangs.
Edit: What I don't understand why changing the png datatypes if I can use SGrab recording with png, and just the same image of workbench. I will reinstall the mathLibs to see. Edit: BTW Where do I get them?

WarPNG.datatype v45.15+ is OK. vPNG is probably no good idea.
I thought that you were using png.datatype 44.6. And in that case it needs the 68000 version for systems without an FPU. The problem with my mathlibs 45.881 is that they also need an FPU or the original libs must exist at least in LIBS:noFPU/ ! The original mathlibs are of course on the Amiga OS 3.9 CD or in the LIBS: dir on your Workbench 3.1 disk. Only the original mathlibs can work without an FPU ! Thanks. I was going to edit it now as I'm copying them now from the CWB39.
Edit: I've changed all less the mathieeesingbas that isn't in CWB39 but it keeps the same. Edit: I'm going to try if it works in WinUAE

Mathieeesingbas.library is in the Kickstart ROM, not in LIBS:
Ok, if really nothing has changed then you have to check other libraries, if they are compiled for an FPU, and replace them. Or try Enforcer together with SegTracker. Btw, your jpeg.library should be the 020std version. Correct ? Last edited by PeterK; 11 August 2012 at 15:18. |

It works perfectly well in WinUAE, connecting the Cf with an usb adaptor...
I still have to remap the bar image that I don't find where is it (they are 2 I believe to remember) and other things. SGrab jpeg image: ![]() What does it mean?

What do you mean with the "bar image"? The start bar on the left? Is that the problem now?
Did you enable the 68881 in your WinUAE configuration / setup ? EDIT: Disable the FPU under WinUAE and then see what happens ? Which version is your jpeg.library on your ACA system? 020STD ? Last edited by PeterK; 11 August 2012 at 16:47. |

Just the image of Amikit in the top bar. Nothing important, just have to remap it for 16 colors, no problemo. I used the ClassicWB config, yes, FPU 68881. Let me see... Yep, it hangs the same without FPU in WinUAE. Let me change the jpeg.library with the CWB39 one. Edit: Ups... there isn't in CWB39¿?. I will search for it. Edit: If you know where to find the 020STD... Edit: This? http://aminet.net/package/util/libs/jpeglibrary

Many thanks for your video clip and good luck for repairing your damaged mainboard. I hope that it's only a dead amplifier in the RGB booster or so and nothing broken in one of the bigger chips.

PeterK is there a way to remap dual PNG icons to 16 colors (Rebel's palette) using your icon library?

The icon.library always maps to the closest available colors of the screen. And if all pens are locked by a fixed palette it's not possible for the icon.library to obtain a new free pen. Thus, it has to find the pen with the best matching color out of the fixed palette. That is exacly what happens on your 16 color AmiKit system IMHO.
For 16 color screens or even less a fixed palette will usually work much better than a screen with a few free pens, because the first images that have to be mapped will get their colors and all the rest has to get happy with that selection. The worst is that there will always be some pens left totally unused because the price for a pen gets higher when the number of the remaining free pens comes closer to zero. |

No, atm the ENV:IconLib46.prefs is not used at all. You can delete it.
But the zlib.library is still required, it's also used by the PNG decoding now! |

Jeje... but (not related) it seems I've got a problem with Workbench2000 and Exec.library
Error "Recoverable" by Exec.library Hunk..."ROM-exec 40.10 (15.7.93)" Cause: Memory header not located. Right not I was searching the "lost" beta exec.library of Cosmos and reading about something related Piru did. If I get running Workbench2000 (or if not, Amistart), I will have the Amikit conversion for real and slow miggys "full equiped" and ready to be shown working. Edit: Extrange too why I get the original Amistart of Amikit working, but the colors of the taskbar are garbled and rare, and the icons aren't shown. ScreenTab works perfectly, and I like that the bar is shown when you put the pointer at the bottom, like in Windows, and later disappears, but the icons are very small, and 8 colors only.

Never use one of the patched libraries from Cosmos, because he did not want to accept the Amiga programming rules, thus his libraries may cause conflicts with other software. For example, his exec.library AllocVec() and AllocMem() functions will crash with other patches like my own MemTrailer which is part of AmiKit. But the bug is definately caused by Cosmos' exec.library and not by MemTrailer!

Thanks. And the exec44beta4 of Piru? http://www.sintonen.fi/sw/
Not sure if that's an exec.library or what. Can you tell what should I try? Thanks master. Edit: And what I edited: Do you think it has something to be (and can be improved still) with your library?

Why do you want to use Piru's exec.library nowadays. He has written it before OS 3.9 and exec.library v45 came out. If you are using OS 3.9 then I would recommend to install the DEVS:AmigaOS ROM Update with SetPatch and you won't need Piru's exec.library v44 anymore.
In general, if you think about installing any patches or other components onto your system you should know exactly what you are doing, what the requirements and the limitations of any patch are. So, please RTFM first and then install only one patch or replace one component at a time and check your system for possible conflicts and problems caused by this single piece of software. AmiStart needs a TrueColor (or HiColor) screen in order to work correctly! If you still don't believe me then please learn to use Enforcer and you will see thousands of hits coming up as soon as you are trying to use AmiStart on any native screen with 256 colors or less. A hit doesn't mean that it crashes or freezes immidiately, but sooner or later these memory trashings will call the Guru. There is still one difference between your real Amiga and WinUAE: WinUAE won't emulate floatingpoint exceptions. So, if your system runs on your real Amiga but not on WinUAE then you may still have a problem with software that generates an FPU exception. |

Edit: As you told me it seems Amistart is made for a graphic board. I believe the problem with Workbench2000 must be the muimaster.library Reedit: After searching and searching and searching I think I've got the answer. This is the only version that seems to work: http://aminet.net/package/util/wb/WB2000_19 Edit: Yes, this seems to work perfectly well.
