OS3.9/AfA 512MB PFS hdf:

Freeware/shareware bundle built just for "fun".
If it was not for OS3.9 I would happily distribute this to anyone who would like a seriously bloated base system.
MUI is running in test mode with prefs taken from my full system.
There is a lot more to it than this one picture shows...

Why not add an AROS setup and avoid problems.

Mine isn't anything too exciting. I use the ClassicWB pack, 68k, for my real Amiga and also the UAE version on my PC. However I am not near my main PC to show you that one

Any chance of considering letting me use it on my Amiga Launcher ?
This version follows the C64 Launcher Collection..Not as previosly shown.

Basicly on the main page theres a workbench button as shown below
Click it and your workbench would load up....
Of course mod it any way you like to remove anything you dont want to supply

Interested ?

I think Boo Boo had the right idea, use AROS and avoid legal problems...
AFAIK Haage & Partner have the distribution rights to OS3.9 (Amiga Forever uses a fake/new OS3.9). Has anyone checked with them recently to see if they would allow it to be distributed freely?

The launcher is not for public release ( although it might get about ) its kind of a community thing i do. People email me for the link from here....Most of us own roms either real amigas or amiga forever.....

Using Aros wouldnt be an advantage if i want to put whd games within the workbench and as the launcher would be filled with games it kind of defeats the object.

It would be like saying your car is insured but not taxed....either way its considered wrong...

However with all my stuff its always been free and i consider them as preservation not piracy...I dare anyone to state they "only" use adf's or roms they actually own the real games for...also as with the Tribute dvd's i even put a link to Amiga forever to encourage people to buy...i own it....all of us should to be as legal as possible...Amiga forever makes it easy.....but thier config isnt always what we want so the launchers make it simple.

Lots of people wont agree with the way i think and i am happy just to make them for my own use but i choose to share to give others the benefit of playing the games in a nice tidy package.

I did not realise the Workbench shown above was using OS3.9 i would not use that as its still for sale but a nice HD of WB 2.0 or 3.1 would not really harm anyone.

I like the graphic you chose after your first sentence. I have felt this way a time or two in my own Amiga endeavors. At any rate, I do like the distribution you have created. How difficult is it to copy OS3.9 stuff out, and how willing would you be to do such a thing and then distribute?

@synchro
I think an alternative preconfigured OS in a more simplistic fashion, as you have constructed, would be a great thing to throw out there. I have been collecting the many software bits to do something similar. Perhaps over this winter season I will get the time for this. The last time I built an OS environment was literally piecemeal on an A3000. The experience was a useful one in the end but included many moments. Cheers!!!

This is my Workbench. It uses only 16 colors. The color theme is based on a Win95 theme I created ages ago.

After much delay due to Christmas/illness/laziness/some updating I have finally got this done:

**Link removed - new version below**

129MB 7z - no fancy installer included so don't waste your time downloading if you are not happy/able to build an OS3.9BB4 system for WinUAE (Startup-sequence editing can be skipped). Also note the default 1366x768 screen res, as per the image (built this on my laptop). Included a rough install guide, a list of removed files, an example WinUAE config and QuarkTex for 3D support. Hope someone will find this useful, even if only to inspire them to make something better...

I have never made a legal one before so its a bit new ground to me

Edit ....Actually your right sorry James did add a nod to one of his posts

Edit Again ...According to Iggy on Amiga.org

For 3.0 and all earlier versions, its not only cool, it would appear to be completely legal.
For 3.1, as a test to the ownership of this property, yes its cool.
For 3.5 and 3.9, no there still partially owned by there developers and are still available on the commercial market.

So basicly i should we should be ok to just add a " Put your Rom Here " button to run the whole works
Synchro have you seen the installation of Amikit? http://amikit.amiga.sk/

At some moment it asks you to insert or OS3.5 or 3.9 or Amiga Forever to install it.

CWB39 installs over an OS3.9 install. http://classicwb.abime.net/classicweb/os3x.htm

No havent seen that ...looks cool !!

Heres a link with some info at least on WB 3.0....still trying to confirm what i wrote was actually accurate

http://www.amiga.org/forums/showpost...004&postcount=

If i can only use 3.0 as the basis it would be still be a good starter kit for the forum....I could still do a lot

I think you should go to a top installation: James' one. For that you can make an installer starting from an OS3.9 workbench, so you are avoiding all the restrictions.

I don't see the point to make something for OS3.0. For that there's CWB.

Edit: And you're going off topic in the other thread.

New full release (still OS39 stripped of course):

http://www.mediafire.com/?97uarkvbfeumq9t

The only differences with this and original version plus update is a switch from 512MB hdf to 2GB vhd, and I have also tidied it up.
Anyone who has managed to get the original running (anyone?) can copy all the files to this empty vhd if they wish:

AfAWB_Empty2GBvhd.7z

There may be a debug.out that will not copy over, this can be skipped.

Note about Grunch and HTMLview.mcc:

Grunch will report HTMLview.mcc as outdated, this is not true. The newest archive on aminet actually contains an older beta version of HTMLview.mcc for m68k - that will throw up an annoying screen requester when used. 13.4 was never ported to m68k (read the docs on aminet if you don't believe me ). I have spoken to the author of Grunch but he will not change this as he feels the problem is with the HTMLview archive.
Please set Grunch to ignore this class...

@synchro/johnim/Retrofan
Will PM you later to help get you up and running, no time at the moment...
