Games you loved when you were young that still ROCK!!!!

I have to say Dungeon Master and all the sequels. They are as good as when they were released. Oh my lord.....

Me and my childhood friend just played through Chaos strikes back. I can really understand why we gave up 20 years ago hahaha. But this time we drew all the maps as we crawled through the tunnels.

Todays games sucks compared to these games. Nice graphics me **s!!! The graphics doesn't matter when the games are this good

if you like that then you might like this:
http://www.grimrock.net/

I'm trying hard to think which game I played and loved the most as a kid. there were so many! but as i got older I became more hooked on applications like Real3D and Deluxe Paint III.

Aha! a game I loved and still rocks:

Worms and Worms Directors cut... I still play that on my miggy and on PC even now. hours of fun!

I'd say Gravity-Force and none of the sequels!!

So ugly. So ace. Play it with a friend. Become enemies for life.

Silkworm is still arcade quality and the sound... PFWOOOM! Exile. Go into another world for a long time and get a new pet Worms, Lemmings, Pinball xx all get played regularly actually!

Bit boring post with all the famous game namedropping but oh well.

Hmmm. Let's see:

3D Monster Maze! God, that was awesome and sooooo scary!
Manic Miner/Jet Set Willy - still just as playable as it always was.
Cybernoid and Cybernoid 2 - the 128k music rocked, the graphics were explosive and full of colour, and it was so playable it hurt. A Cecco classic.

Many others too, but nothing on later platforms (including the Amiga) stands out as much as the Spectrum classics did.

Armageddon I and II. A mate and I spent weeks playing them on 2 miggys serial linked. Also Eye of the Beholder 1 and 2, played them both again recently. And never forgetting Deuteros, what a game that is, and there has never been a remake which is a shame!

I loved all the old platforms and shoot em ups. Modern games might look absolutely sexy, but while the appearance has improved, the gameplay has completely gone to pot. Comparing my Kick Off 2 sessions, FIFA 12 on the PS3 feels like you need four hands with 8 fingers on each one to be able to play it.

Of all of them? The one I think that could still stand up to any modern game is Frontier: Elite 2. The hours I spent on that game, the way I got absolutely immersed in it... I'm still amazed (and a bit sad) that an updated MMORPG version of it hasn't appeared. (I know some lads are working on a remake of Frontier called Pioneer, but I think it'll be many years before we see a proper release of it)

I don't think there is any game i played as a young which today isn't as fun. Some I thought back then had awesome graphics, and today is a bit dated. but thats beside the point.

I however miss having my second player around (my little brother)

R-Type and best Amiga shooter still for me is Z-Out. Mostly due to the music from these games admittedly

Others that still rock: Rodland, Turrican Trilogy, Stunt Car Racer, Quik & Silva, Hybris, James Pond, Lemmings 1 & 2. Lemmings 3 sucks though.

Now though... I have started eotb1 a couple days ago and I like it a lot. I guess this will be my go-to game for a while! Much better than Diablo 3. There really needs to be more than hack and slash for me. The puzzles create the much needed pacing for the game. Oh and the graphics have aged with dignity.

Invasion of the Mutant Space Bats of Doom. Hands-down the best vertical shmup I've played on a PC, it gives a lot of arcade games a run for their money. Also, the music is catchy as hell. Works fine on DOSBox, too (though it sounds best on a real OPL2/OPL3 sound card.) (Just make sure you find v2.3, that's the last one with the full shareware episode.)

Also, I recently played through the Jill of the Jungle trilogy for the first time in years, and I was surprised how well that's held up. A pretty good blend of puzzles and action and an absolutely terrific soundtrack (why Dan Froelich didn't go on to do a lot more games than just early Epic shareware titles is beyond me.) The graphics are dated, but pretty charming nonetheless.

Oh, forgot this one: Spin Doctor. The Mac original, not the subsequent commercialware-ing up from Expert Software. (Though the Windows version of that is worthwhile just for the MIDIs.) The original version's got beautifully simple visuals and audio as compared to the later revamp, though both have incredibly addictive gameplay. Good stuff. If you've got SheepShaver and 256 colors on your Amiga, you need this.

Agreed, actually it was the Grimrock hype that recently made me want to play again, and I went through all of them in a week, I mean DM1,CSB and DM2. Awesome games.
I really like the premise of this thread, so often people list their favourite games and when you ask how often they play it turns out they only like played it once 15 years ago. Well, if the game is so great, why dont you play it all the time!

Other Amiga games I often play are

1869 - Beautiful music and graphics
MadTV! - Never gets old really
Pizza Connection - just great all around
Speedball2 - surprisingly fun even with a keyboard
UFO - Everyone loves that
Frontier - the scope of it is just amazing

Space Ranger. Saw this in Dixons and it was the first game I saw running on Amiga. Simple but fun and great example of a pick up and play. I never see it mentioned. Nice memorable tunes too
