Scores/Instruments for Sonix

Sonix is still my favorite music program after all these years. Sure, there's better, but I think it was the most no-nonsense. The fact people regularly go looking for it is telling.

No, sorry. I have a few more Jukebox disks and that's it.

I was really looking for Sonix instruments disks because I have some old Amiga disks with scores on them, but I can't listen to them properly because the instruments aren't on the disk with the scores. Whenever I load a song, it can't find the instruments to go with it... Thanks for the disks that you did have though.

Though I have no instrument disks per se, there are some instrument files on the disks I uploaded, and I have others containing instrument files too.

Someone must have the instrument disks, since they were in The Zone at one time.

In the meantime, I can upload the disks I have by all means, unless you think it would be a waste of time.

There are some instruments on Uncle Tom Sonix (in the "i" folder), I've asked Stefan Lindberg if he wants to upload and get credit for the other Sonix disks he scanned or if I should.

Remember that you can import multi-octave samples and also muck about with the synth to make your own instruments, which I think has a pleasant sound for being so early actually.

They are LHA-compressed archives. Extract the contents using LhA on the Amiga, or WinRAR on the PC.

Download the lot; they all contain instrument files

I actually have a PD series called "SONIX CD PLAYER" of 22 disks containing Sonix-music, maybe it's the same as some of the 17Bit, but if anyone's interested I have them. I attached the list file showing what's on the disks.

The Sonix Data Disks 1-9 are available as 17-bit disks.

I am uploading them to The Zone for you with a text file which tells which disks are which.

Still, by adding some new information to this thread, i.e. by linking to the boxed software picture in your post, you could jog someone's memory.

I would guess that the original disks are copy-protected, and that's why the TOSEC images all have cracker tags, but I wonder why no data disks have been added?

Until I saw this picture, I had thought the various Data, Jukebox, and Instruments disks, etc. were either bundled with the program disks or available as add-ons.

Thanks for posting the image. As I mentioned in the other thread, the 2.0 disks on AmigaScne seem legit. Still looking for older versions. I don't think disk-based copy protection was common for application disks, as it was mostly recommended to take backups. I guess the reason there are so few clean ones in TOSEC is either that people who dump ADF files don't have the originals but just whatever copies were floating around among their friends at the time (thus messages from swappers, different/modified instruments, etc.), or that people were generally careless and wrote changes to their original disks.
